It seems like CCP should do a better job of listening to the CSM in the future. Mynnna pretty much sums up where players draw the line. Taking advantage of a players trust is what scamming is. If they believe your claims about being a representative or someone else its still misplaced trust in your current character that makes the scam work. |

Lets say in a fringe case, I impersonate myself with a alt named Bit Rusher (with a space). I then use this alt to scam people that trust BitRusher. Is it still impersonation when it is me and I'm entirely truthful about being the same character while on my alt? If its not Impersonation is the similar misleading name then allowed ?
I feel like the wording of 2b could be cleaned up to make this more definitive. You can't pretend to be yourself so without the Impersonation of another character the clause of similar misleading names doesn't apply to these scams, even though it would the space in the alts name fooling them in the scam. |

Dolan I heard you on the SCL yesterday and I was a little surprised that the Tos was even talked about. CCP needs to understand that its fine to ban all catch scrapping then take no action is ok because there is no 3rd party being wronged. This Tos change to scamming is different because there is a 3rd party that will demand the protections stated in the Tos. Their will be no room for CCP to be flexible with this as their was with catch scrapping so it is important to be very clear for both the players to understand what to expect.
As for editing the wiki that was done. I think CCP was impersonated in that scam under the old and new Tos. This Tos change is completely unnecessary and bad for the game. The looking at the Edits made to Cribba's Page both the top and bottom banner does not constitute impersonation imo, they seem like very carefully written sentences that give false information about the status of the page. The forged lock that says "locked by CCP" yeah that's direct impersonation. |

I think after you join a corp you should be fair game for someone to impersonate you for means of espionage and playing the meta game. There are two ways spying is portrayed in movies, the boring invisible guy who is embedded, and the guy who quickly gets access with fake credentials to cause a lot of damage before being found out. If your going to let people build empires you should let people pretend their Bond or Archer. Instead of letting GMs or Legal ruin basic concepts, Devs should acknowledge that this is game play. |
