ore thieves - lazy a@@e@
again, all u need is a kestrel (any cheap missle boat will do) and take them out in 1 volley, concord might come and kill you. but it's worked well for me.

For the seventy thousand billionth time ... THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN ORE THIEF.
Ore can't be stolen. If it's in your hold, its invulnerable unless your ship gets destroyed, and that's piracy.
I think what you meant was, "the lowest form of life is ore scavengers." That may well be (I've suffered at their hands as well) ... but what they are doing is NOT theft. The stuff ceased to be yours when you jettisoned it.

I guess you can try and discuss semantics with me, but that would be kind of pointless wouldn't it. If jettising something is meant to get rid of something that you plan on giving up or is useless, why is it such an integral part of the ship dynamics? Why would you put crap in your cargo hold only to jettison it? Kind of redundant don't you think?
Anyways, post wasn't about ranting. I was mearly pointing out how to take care of ore thieves (guess this only pertains to the people who share my semantics, then again, it's a big world isn't it) without much loss except a little bit of sec status.

i think you have issues, guess an afk miner podded u or something maybe? oh, those cu vapors can be quite dangerous . never said i was afk. and where do u think most of the minerals to make all those ships comes from? my life doesn't suck, although from reading your post, i think yours might. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Mind explaining why? Not that I really like him, although I know *FAR* worse people. Setec seems fair to be a pirate. ;)

did you even read my post If i'm not mistaken, i don't think i mentioned anything not being fair and definitely did not compare life to EVE.
Again, was just letting people know 1 way to take care of ore thieves (scavengers, whatever semantic background you come from). Seemed like a pretty simple concept to me ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

The lowest form are these big bad PK'ers in a game where death means nothing. Make it real PK where if you die you got to start over from scratch. That would seperate the "carebear PK" the game has now from a real intense game where death has more of a penalty than it does now

It isn't. Jettisoning ore so you can collect it later is a workaround. Mining in a gang largely removes the ore scavenger problem.

Yes it would, because you're so obviously wrong that there is nothing to discuss.
Quote: If jettising something is meant to get rid of something that you plan on giving up or is useless, why is it such an integral part of the ship dynamics? Why would you put crap in your cargo hold only to jettison it? Kind of redundant don't you think?
I didn't say it wasn't a viable policy - far from it. It's a policy I use myself, I've been drop-mining kernite for weeks. *But it comes with a risk*. Once you jettison it, you have no claim to the stuff until you pick it up again. The game dynamic here is pretty simple - you can drop-mine for speed but risk losing it to a scavenger, or you can mine to your cargo for security but have to keep hauling small loads back and forth. Or, you can scavenge from other ppl who think the risk is worth the reward, and make your money that way. Any of the three is equally acceptable.
You don't want to take risks, fine, don't take them. Don't whine about people who take advantage of you for having done so.

Go ahead, mock the "carebears". There's a lot more "carebears" than there are of the "uber PK" types.
Guess what. "Carebear" money pays for the game. Therefore, keeping the "carebears" happy is FAR more important than catering to the ingame equivalent of a script kiddie.
Pirate/thief PK == parasite. PKs aren't wolves. They're tapeworms.
Know your place, PK's. It's not at the top of the foodchain. It's at the bottom.

Lowest form of life?
People the whine about PKers and such to the point that this game has been nerfed into a kid game.
A game where unless you are super stupid and/or careless you will always have a up to date clone. (Therefore never lossing any skill points in the off chance you are podded)
A game where with the screwed up market you can fully replace your ship with the insurance money.
A game where 2 or 3 hours mining will replace anything under a battleship.
Etc, Etc, Etc,......
Down with the Carebears, pod them all I say, pod all carebears!!!!!!!!!!!
