so I decided to watch some movies and let eve run in the background, basically becoming one of those afk cloakers
why did it happen? jumping into nullsec it seems every time I enter a system people tend to dockup and hide
the problem is local, because of local you have two players not beeing able to play the game, the one who mines or does some ratting hides and docksup and and if you stay even logsoff, on the other hand the cloaker needs to wait and therefore goes afk to maybe have the other player go on and maybe catch him if he thinks hes afk
by removing local you get two things, 2 players actually keep playing the game instead of leaving it, the miner will only mine with support or think about other ways to prevent the cloaked player, and the cloaked player can just go on and try to ambush
you want people actually play the game and get ingame solutions, then remove local, you want the people to leave the game, then you keep local
your decision CCP ... |

VFK remained pretty busy despite you entering local, possibly because we don't take you seriously. RIP Scamming; CCP has finally acknowledged that the average gamer is too stupid to avoid being scammed & has decided to protect them from themselves with TOS changes that effectively ban the practice. |

Both players have paid already.. its their choice whether they remain at the KB or logged in...
Removing Local chat may not be that easy.. and has no doubt been suggested many times before..

Yea, you don't mine, or rat, do you. Ever. How many other players do you think should be on standby to protect that one miner mining in a venture (yea, people drop them just for the lolz)? 10? 100? 1,000? You don't know who's going to bridge what on top of you.
If you want to play without local, go to WH space.
End of discussion.

I honestly don't know why people believe this. We have an part of EVE space with no local. It STILL has the lowest population (by far) of any part of the game.
You want this for the rest of the game?

Really? you can go 40 jumps through Nullsec and not find a single person. Try doing that in WH space.

You think LOCAL is the limiting factor of Wspace population? The reason Wspace has the lowest population (and is still actually very populated, considering probably 1/3 the holes have towers in them) is because most players are too lazy to learn how to scan.
Removing local in nullsec would be a huge buff to roaming gangs of all sizes and types. People would actually have to use their intel channels. |

As a bomber pilot myself i would still not agree with this. even though it would help me personally i think for the game as a whole it would just make it pointless .
High sec - no worry's apart from wars
low sec - tactical spots to fight with or without npc gates support
null sec - Fight anywhere with only your fleet members as support .
wormhole - no local no chance
i would recommend you to go to worm hole if local bothers you that much or learn how to catch these people quicker
P.S fapping is aloud in any local |

Local is essential for fights. I'm flying to get into an approriate ship for a roam I'm trying to join. I jump the gate and look at my overview (ohh a gang here), I report the gang flying (fill in the blank) in x system on y gate. The fleet I'm joining up sends a scout to keep an eye on them till the rest of the fleet catches up.
Removing local means if I have moved on to another system and the scout shows up in x system, he wouldn't know if they had moved on till he arrives to the gate. If the scout jumps into the connecting system. The scout would then have to check d-scan everything in range and try to find the gang in question.
By then they have gotten away and no fight is to be had. |

I really don't know what to think of local.
it's a zero-effort instantaneous intel tool. that, in itself, means that's extremely valuable, but it's also extremely bad.
on the pro-local side, I can agree with the safety feature it gives since it pretty much allows for a safety net for the locals to dock/safe up. I can see that, since I used it like so.
on the anti-local side, I can agree that it gives too much intel, making it an unnecessary barrier for sneak attacks. I can see that since I was hindered by it too.
it's hard to have a middle point here, when everybody that did pretty much roam and pve in null has suffered both sides of the coin.

the problem is local, because of local you have two players not beeing able to play the game No harry, the problem is you.
You come into system in a cloaked ship, go afk, and wonder why people are not trying to fight you.
If you want a fight, bring a combat ship (not a gank ship) and sit 50k off the gate. You might just find that barge undocks in a more appropriate boat and decides to entertain you. it is the most difficult part shooting goon haulers, you have no clue how to do it, got no clue how many ships jump back and forth... you got no clue of soloing, just scared like the others
shooting down ships of the biggest alliance out there, is not your business, how should you know anything
you would die at the first gate ... |
