Yes I know scan probes do a similar job but I think this would make things a little more interesting
Similar requirments of a scan probe launcher. 3 missles per clip low ROF mabe 20-30secs
Once missles hit target, the target becomes tagged and effectively become part of your gang (one way)
you can approach and warp to him/her but he/she cant warp to you. Thus no where to run no where to hide , tagged players can be chased down unless they keep warping or leave the system.
Should be various types of BUG missles with Factors such as
Timers so tag only last for so many minutes Accuracy so a warp to 15km may pop you out 32km away instead Missle speed make intitally getting a tag on somone fast, tricky.
With named types and skills improving them etc.
In my mind this would increase the pace of combat no end with tactical SS useless after the inital engadment unless you split your tagged forces from your non tagged
Tagged player would get a tagged timer poping up where the agression timer sits so they know how long the tag lasts.

Tracking devices... Interesting actually +2 points for feasibility and interestingness.

Edited by: Joviah on 13/01/2006 05:08:05 So basically...
You decide to gank someone. Target, F1, F2, F3 (F1 being a tag dart or whatever). Your intended prey starts to kick your arse and you warp away, with only you having the option to warp back to the target no matter where he/she is in the system.
Vice versa, you're taking away a player's option to run if he's got skills/mods to do so (WCS, good navigation and warp skills, etc...)
Ummm, no. (Yes I do PvP, but I prefer the hunt rather than an easy kill. So much more satisfying)
Not too keen on the idea sorry. This takes away from the whole "Space is BIG" concept.

Thinking about it a bit, what would be nice would be something along the lines of proximity mines/detectors...
Say you/your corp colonizes a system. Someone with negative standings comes in a gate and activates mines. THEN maybe we could get a warp-to tag on them.
Would be interesting in a defense sorta way.

if technology is at all advanced I would think that you would notice a huge homing signal being radiated from your ship and would jam it and then remove it...

hence a timer , e.g. 10mins which is the time it takes to find and remove the device from your ship.
this could of course could be used aaint the user, a single ship warps in gets tagged and warp out the force who tag him persue and find themslevs warping into a gank squad MWHAHAHA

Mines used to be in game but was a lag generator / remote ganker, so it was removed.
If you own a system you should be able to build space telescopes (yes thats the name CCP came up with) you can build near a POS or outpost to track down anyone in the system, maybe make them work like perminent scan probes with 50km accuracy, and takes a few minutes for the POS controler (up to skill) to scan.
