Aight, my grandparents PC has an aging TnT 2 vid card with 32 meg of memory and integrated RAMDAC video ram. Anyone know of a way to make it work with EvE? I go to start up and... well... this is what I get:

update to latest drivers, turn all graphics settings to minimum, if that doesnt work then it probably never will

EVE will never run on a TNT based graphics card.
Read the Readme.txt in the main EVE directory. The TNT/TNT2 is not supported by EVE

It may not be supported... but it should be able to handle it, shouldn't it? I mean, even if it's not specificly designed to be supported by it, like with BF2 and some ATI cards, it should still work; or there should be a way to make it work.
But, if this is the case... what is the MINIMUM graphics card needed to make EVE run?

As far as I know, EVE requires hardware Transform & Lightning (T&L) on the graphics card.

I got the same screen with a TNT/TNT2. Installed a GeForce 5500 128MB Ram. Now it works well. --------------------------------------------- You don't know the power of the dark side. -- Darth Vader |

Hardware T&L was introduced in the Geforce 2 series video cards.

Correction. Hardware T&L was introduced on Geforce 1 line of graphic cards. It was also present on the original Radeon cards...now known as Radeon 7500. EVE plays fine on the MOBILITY radeon 7500 in my laptop, also with 32mb of ram. I imagine it would play fine on a original Geforce as well. These cards are known as the first DirectX 7 generation of cards, and DirectX 7 is the first directX to support hardware T&L. This is the minimum requirement for EVE, as EVE is a DirectX 7 game.

7.1 What are the basic system requirements?
Minimal hardware: CPU: PIII - 450 MHZ or higher RAM Memory: 128MB (256MB for 2000/XP) Hard Drive Capacity: 1 GB Connection: 56k modem or faster
Operating System: Win98 SE Windows 2000 Millennium, WinXP Please note that Windows 95 and NT are not supported. DirectX 9.0 or later
Video cards: GeForce 2 or better, ATI Radeon 7200 or better, Matrox Parhelia. To check whether your card meets these requirements check with your card manufacturer:
NVIDIA GeForce cards:
GeForce2 Ultra GeForce2 Ti GeForce2 Pro GeForce2 GTS GeForce2 MX GeForce2 MX 400 GeForce2 MX 200 GeForce2 Go GeForce2 Go 200 GeForce2 Go 100 ^- All GPU's from this point up Have Transform and Lighting (T&L) and therefore should Run EVE
GeForce 256 <--- Geforce 1 (First Transform and Lighting (T&L) GPU According to EVE's site all that is required minimum is 32megs ram (video) and Transform and Lighting (T&L) So in Theory this card should work.
TNT - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 Vanta LT - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 Vanta - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 M64 - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 Pro - No Transform and Lighting (T&L) TNT2 Ultra - No Transform and Lighting (T&L)
And Also It says that EVE uses DirectX 9.0 and greater. Nowhere does it say the game is DX7.

Edited by: Th0m4s on 23/01/2006 17:11:51 Intel 855GME integrated graphics (in my laptop) don't support T&L either but it does run EVE without a problem (using Rantor's fix). T&L was invented to take some of the geometry and stuff off the cpu and tranfser it to the GPU. Today's CPU's are so powerfull that they can manage to take some of these things on them without too much trouble.
I do have low fps, but it works and since EVE is a point and click game and doesn't require you to aim, low FPS is not realy a big problem as long as you don't do realy critical fights.
TNT cards realy are just too old I think. While some of the commands for my 855GME get done by the CPU, the TNT drivers simply stall when a command it can not do is given without even trying to let the CPU do it ... All you can do is try the latest official drivers. Then try Omega and for last test try nvidia drivers from around 2001, maybe it'll work with EVE (but don't cound on it it will work with newer games ;) ).

Exactly, TNT card owners should take them out of there machines have them bronzed and put on a shelf and upgrade to something just aa weee bit more up to date.
