"ffs Grand Admiral whoever was responding to everything with "Giggles" i mean, wtf was he/she rp'ing, a 13yr old who stole a carrier for a joy ride?"
Not necessarily a bad thing... i mean, doesn't sound that far from David Lynch's take on Baron Harkonnen to be honest ^^;;
(and yes, my money would be on the crash factory inspection shortly beforehand :s

Originally by: Trepkos Being a carrier belonged to the event team, I wouldnt really count it as the first carrier down. If we did that, then we might aswell count the ones on Sisi aswell.
Its true that the lose of the carrier didn't inflict any actual damages to any of our real enemies. This is however the first carrier used in actual pvp on Tranq. It inflicted real damage to use (tore several BS apart, look at killboard) and was subsequently destroyed by players.
So it sort of counts for half really.

then I guess we couldnt count our losses as losses coz they were killed by an event team?

Heh.
There was allways that Quaff event JF was protecting, with the UTTERLY off-his-rocker Megathron pilot.
Warning: above post may contain traces of sarcasm. "Corpse cannot be fitted onto ship. Only hardware modules can be fitted." |

Props to Celest, VC and Serpentis for bringing it to our back yard. I really wish I'd been online to take part.
Looking at the BoB killboard it looks like the Carrier called all sorts of problems and that the engagements would have been totally one sided without it.
Throughout all the engagements Celes, VC and Serpentis lost 18 BS's and the Carrier, while BoB forces lost 11 BS's (The carrier being solely responsible for 4 of those kills and was top damage dealer on another couple).
Having said all that I am still impressed that the Pirate force of Serpentis and their sympathisers brought it - well done!

I'd like to know how effective that thing really was..
How long was it able to tank for, before going down? Was anyone able to jam it successfully? Did the drones get shot down much? Did the remote transfers help out their fleet at all?
Very curious to see how they perform. I have pretty mad drone skills, but capital ships are not something I wanna dump skillpoints into, unless they can be used in a lot of fights :\

Serpentis also fielded an EOS, I wonder how much that helped their Vindicator and Carrier fleet?

As far as I understand, it did mad damage with it fighters.
Dont know how well destroying the fighters went, but many were left behind when the carrier died reasonable fast to focused fire of a pretty decent sized fleet. _______________________________________________

digi, considering the "thing" made 3/5 of all loses caused to BOB, alone, it was superb.
With the modifyed stuff, it tankked also pretty well. Not to mention hefty 68 (or was it more) sensor strenght and all made it preetty hard to EW in first plase.

the fight wouldnt have taken place without it.... it would have been suicide. well more suicide than it was.
also remember the logistics working with the RP serpintis, it aint funny not knowing what they are doing half the time.
to be fair they offered a diversion to get celes forces out, this was rejected and the boys decided to "go for it".
this is all about the first use of a carrier in EVE.

I know, as I said it's great that you pirate sympathisers brought it this evening and I do understand it was about the 'event' rather than anything else.

1. The Carrier was controlled by a human
2. The Carrier fought back
3. The Carrier pilot had boosted skills beyond what a normal player would have this soon into RMR
All this "Half value" stuff just needs to go away.
It's not like BoB goes around putting Estamel (The NPC one) on their killboard.
Respect where it's due, that was a good kill.
If it was a big massive red cross hanging in space, then I'd say no.

Tanked well, not like a dread in siege, but it took a substantial time to bring it down with a good 30+ bships pounding on it. Guys were pasting combat log hits in gang chat from the fighters, 1200, 1600, 3000wrecks... they was chewing thru tanked battleships like they were shuttles, but we did manage to take out some fighters. TBH if the carrier had replacements in hold he prob couldna launched em in that lag.
As for transfers helping etc, hard to tell with all the lag tbh.
Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

was fun, but got laggy towards the end.
20-60s lag between issuing a command and it being effected. We didn't even have *that* big a fleet, about 50 in gang iirc (though we did outnumber the invaders significantly).
none of which detracts from a great event, Aurora are doing an excellent job recently.

I wasn't there (was watching Kentucky's basketball program fall apart ) , but from the discussion I heard, by the time repairs were called for, the pilot was already dead (afterall, 5 seconds for chat to show up in gang, 7 seconds to target, 10 seconds to activate module... lag ftl)
BTW, the only reason not to count as the first "real" carrier kill is that it didn't cost some alliance 1.5billion+ isk to field.

And seriously, Grand Admiral's giggling is atrocious. At least chuckle, no giggling.
Are you shure? tho random focusing of her eyes tell difrent story
edit: Sorry no pick of carrier itself, only fighters.
Bob Fleet, Reminds me Earth minbari war scenery, if you replase apochs with Sharlins
Fighter, coming right at you. Shiny, WW2 look alike cabin. The fighter itself reminds me of "the last exile's" Van ship
Here some closer looks Front Top HUD and gauges
