I think the idea of *having* to create instas to avoid being ratted is a problem in the game design. Why is it that rats in EVE seem to carry so much weight with CCP? Even if they don't, from the myriad of rumors I've read and stuff that seems to be, it seems they get their way more often than not.
Sure, being a pirate can be a profession, but who ever said that it has to be *fair*? That's not how real life is, which is what I assume this game tries to replicate somewhat (making it seem real that is). Do thieves and such get free run on anyone in the streets after dark just because "it's what they do"? No way! If they want to be criminals, they have to find ways to work AROUND the system to do what they want to do.
Give us the ability to warp in closer to jump gates; reduce the amount of capacitor and system power required for mwds (to the person who said afterburners aren't hard to use, you've obviously a) never done a trade route in anything bigger than a frig, and b) never had pirates sitting at a gate waiting for you - ab's do NOT provide enough speed to outrun weapons); give hauler ships specific mwds catered to that class of ship to allow them to actually get somewhere fast if they have to; allow autopilot to pilot a ship all the way to dock, not just to the jump gate.
Whatever it is, I think insta bookmarking is stupid, and I personally don't do it but I may as I get in to risky trade routes - there's simply no way to survive and not to. Yes it sucks, but with pirates having such a huge upper hand unless you've got a bunch of friends you can have with you as you run trade missions, there's nothing you can do. Pirates steal to grow their wealth, giving them yet MORE abilities to gank traders is only going to make them even more prosperous, and ruin any chance the rest of us of ever making enough cash to compete with them - you're going to ruin any feeble game balance that may exist.
Don't remove bookmarking entirely - it's very useful for having quick ways to figure out where your "bases" are, places of interest, agents you specifically like working for, etc...
