Finding the hidden belts is quite easy.
However i have found the best way is to use an interceptor with MWD and Imp Cloak.
The improved cloak gives you the ability to scan the field even if there is a nasty NPC spawn in the same belt with minimal risk.
The best way to locate the belts are to use the overview filter with the system scan using about 5000km range 360 degree setting. this will allow you to discover is there are roids off grid (the wont have a distance measurement). If you see off grid roids you can then start reducing angle ranges to get your direction.
And before a noob asks your angle is based on the axis of your camera view..not your ship.

Achieving anything in this game should take SOME atention and efford, mining doesnt require you to do much to begin with. And since low-sec ore is valuble, and you say there are no pirates, off-grid astroids should be a small problem compared to those that have to deal with hordes of
 or 
deal with it, please.

The op basically wants eve tailored to him so he can mine better so he can make more money because its all about him?
Did i miss anything?
Also. It'd be easier for you to ask ccp to dump billions into your wallet directly. You have an equal chance of success with both scenarios.

So..... how does everyone feel about Having asteroids in a nice "U" shaped belt for easy mining... I know i enjoy it.

Funny I asked about this in another post when I was playing with a scanner and found Omber .8 space but off the grid.. Now I got to go buy a MWD to go find it......

i personaly think that the belts should be just that.. giant rings around the planet..when u warp to the belt, you warp to the closest spot to your position to that belt.
Make the belt cover many many grids, and allow ppl to fly for hours alongside the belt. also give 'roids some effect(damage when u smash into them, dampon your sensors, etc, diffrent minerals have differnt effects and can scramble your sensors and even make the overview dissapear altogether, give pirates a little edge..allow them to hide in belts and ambush greedy stripminers)

Just to be clear, mining in an off grid section of a normal belt was a no-no, but 'real' hidden belts were fine.
However, when CCP realised that NPC's didn't spawn at them, that was fixed.
