So for two years running, on two sepearte websites (remember MMOHELL awards last year?) CCP has swept all the awards they entered. Good work CCP. Who knows perhaps we can repeat it next year too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Freya Runestone on 17/01/2006 10:36:13 congrats for all the awards. allthough i'm a bit disappointed that guild wars didn't get the "best PvP" award grats to EvE for getting it. no doubt that is my 2nd choice but i thought the PvP concept of GW was appreciated bu more people.. i guess people don't like when they can't get any advantage due to having played longer.
edit: except for most anticipated game (for obvious reasons) i would put EvE first on all the other categories. the story especially. the intro movie is just so well made. even if its just non-moving pictures. i love it.

i think the best thing about pvp in eve is that its not "forced" and fits really well in the bacground of the game.
I feel in some MMO's its seperate form the main game - pvp is so well woven into the game it just feel right - an it the only game i have ever enjoyed a good PvP fight...

Edited by: Malthros Zenobia on 17/01/2006 10:55:09 If Wrayreth or someone else with an mmorpg.com account could give that grin guy a clue about grahpics, please do so (any time i try to make an account there it simply doesn't work).
Tell him to look at Myst, or mention the fact that Ultima Underworld came out before Wolfenstein-3d and was more advanced than Doom2 (since he likes to ***** about EVE being old).
I hate retards who think newer graphics mean they're better. It's like saying the fugly overworld models used in ff7 looked better than the SNES sprites because they're 3D.
/me goes to bed and tries to forget about the WoW/EQ2 whiners in Ovuer's link.

How about:
"Malthros, we've read weirda's AF bonus thread, and are going to fix them in the late jan/early feb content patch."
That'd be pretty damn hot.

an extra special thanks to everyone who spammed MMORPG.com's forums and email accounts over EvE not being nominated for best PVP. Our collective whining not only got eve into the catagory it deserved to be in, but wiped the floor with the competition.
well done CCP. dispite the lag and the bugs, we still <3 you. now ffs hurry up with those servers

Congrats to everyone at CCP. The awards you won are all more than deserved. Of all the MMOs I have played (six to date) this is the only one that has kept me hooked. This is the only company I have noticed that truly stands behind their game and is passionate about what they make, not to mention the level of dev interaction is unsurpassed (and often very humorous).
Cheers to CCP, Eve, and the whole community

Guild Wars has the best PvP of any game ever, by many, many times over. The most organised, the most structured, a real ranking system, and the most rewarding t oa team.
I played in the 'top' guild in europe, and they were quite simply awful. I quit just before I came back to Eve. Therein lies Guild Wars' problem; actually finding another 7 good players to take to the top, who enjoy playing the game (many people dislike guild wars) is an absolute chore. In fact, if I found 7+ other players who would PvP in Guild Wars every night, I'd drop everything else to play it.
Eve doesnt have the best PvP, or the best PvE. It has the best *overall* game experience by far, though. It has many things that other games dont have (the market. Spaceships!) And the best community, the best developer team. It deserved to OMGWTFBBQ the competition.
Go Eve!

EvE online winning the PvP award...
Jesus Christ, do you guys who voted for EvE understand what you just did?
Yup : no PvP improvements for the next three years.
Basically you just told CCP that you are very happy with it's current state and that they shouldn't change *anything*.
Think about it the next time the only thing you will see of that "Great Fleet Battle" will be "warp drive active" and 5 mn later you wake up in your new clone.
Think about it when empire's clusters will implode under 50,000 players in it and 500 players in 0.0 .
This reward is very good news for CCP's marketing division, but it's dire news for all PvPers of EvE...

i very much doubt that the pvp will not improve over the next 3 years, the pvp makes this game, imo the bext mmo out, with an ever expanding use of ships and new equipment to play with, we just had a huge patch with rmr, which has taken pvp to the next level with capital ships, atm they are not properly being used, as a very select few can fly them, wen more people can fly, the game will be different

Originally by: Ozzie Asrail Please forgive me. I voted EQ2 as best graphics
I don't see that you need make any apology for that. I also voted EQ2 for best graphics because, quite simply and honestly, it has the best graphics. EVE's gfx are good, don't get me wrong, and they are right for the environment that the game takes place in, but they cannot compete (and should not be expected to compete) with the engine used by EQ2. Of course, if as much time and effort had gone into making the rest of EQ2 as had been spent on the gfx it might have been a better game, but c'est la vie
Best PvP? Best Company? Best Game? Yep, no question about it, EVE/CCP wins hands down. However, it's really important to remain objective when voting for awards like this, since it's the only way to get the prizes to accurately reflect reality. For the same reason, I hope that the people getting themselves involved in the WoW vs EVE flamewar on mmorpg.com can stay objective and allow EVE's public image to live up to its old reputation as a game played by people who actually think, rather than just yet another online game populated mainly by morons- like all the rest.
Oveur et al, you have obviously succeeded in many of your goals, and- the above comments aside- the awards you have received are richly deserved. I hope that you continue to pursue your vision and that this kind of recognition is repeated in future polls. Who knows... with a bit of love thrown at it, perhaps EVE's storyline can be resurrected and we can scoop the awards for that as well

erm, retard of the month award? the people that voted for eve in that catagory has a better pvp system than any other game up for the award. that does not mean it is perfect, just better than anything else available in any other mmorpg.
