I have found in 1on1's in 0.0 that the crow wtfpwns me every time, no matter what setup i use. Well if you look at it, since the missile changes it has become a wtfpwnage mobile. It can choose its damage type, stay at whatever range it likes and still hit, and with the introduction of tech2 missiles it does huge damage. I'm sorry but it's way too overpowered currently, CCP need to look at this.

can you describe your problem? what are you flying is he in 10 km range or outside..if you are in a inty just orbit @ 15 k and it will pop in no time... _________________________________________________

Nope.
You're probably just fighting better pilots than yourself, and/or your setup isnt good enough, or suited to killing an inty.
This is not intended as a flame, just as a statement of fact.
If anything, intys lost out (a little) with the plate change, although the effect of plate was somewhat overstated.

Edited by: Vajell on 17/01/2006 14:02:38 i've tryed a close range AB setup, then tryed a 12km setup with radio crystals on my lasers - thats possibly why. Just seems a little overpowered but maybe you're right
Edit: in an inty

youre faster than a crow in a crusader (dont know about malediction), use that to your advantage.

thats kinda the route of the problem - while i'm trying to get in my optimal its continously bombarding me with missiles.

just orbit @ the 15 k.
i use an ares and can pwn anything that is shortrange or does crappy damage because of speed (crow). just dont get in webrange, thats all. _________________________________________________

Edited by: Oriana Fallaci on 17/01/2006 14:24:43 I dont think missile crows are the main problem, but rocket crows.
I fly a Claw, and you got only one chance at defeating a crow: constantly keep it above 10km and below 20 km so that you can scramble it, but you dont get in webber range.
Then use arties to kill it, although it will take incredibly long, as you can neither fit tracking computers nor enhancers, as you need med for mwd/scrambler and lows for speed mods so that you can dictate the range of the fight.
Once you get below 10km, youre dead as rockets so hugely outdamage acs that you dont stand a chance.
Although I must admit, the scenario I outlined above is rather theoretical, as its almost impossible to keep range in this window. At such a high speed, keep range simply doesnt work. Due to lag and unresponsiveness of ships, a crow that rapidly alternates approach/keep range 100km will always be able to escape the 10km-20km corridor.
Lower rocket damage, to give other ceptors at least a chance at short range!

Edited by: DayVV4lkEr on 17/01/2006 14:33:23 As soon as a blasterranis or a ac claw gets into range the crow doesn't stand a chance.....
If your setups are broken why should a ship be nerfed ?
And btw the T2 missiles doesn't help the crow a thing (they are useless for crows)

Missiles in general, and how to balance then vs turrets, are the prob with pretty much everything :)
One possible solution though. Claw is much faster and more maneuverable than a Crow. If you have trouble beating one, dont fight it; run away. We are the guerilla tactics specialists, after all.

you're wrong it does, the crow dictates range if it fits an MWD, whereas a close range ship would probably use an AB. As soon as the crow flys 5km away blasters become useless and other similar setups

Like i said broke setup. Interceptors are Tacklers, therefor go MWD and then U can deictate the range pretty well....
Sometimes it even depends on how u approach a target.

WTB house in a world where people dont use MWD on their inties.

The point being to stay out of range of the crow

just don't use your MWD all the time i don't really know if i should explain how ceptors work...
for example it isn't the best solution to directly approach a target all thge time.
once you are in your range turn of the MWD web the target and the crow is done. if he wants to escape the range he needs to activate his MWD (higher chance for wrecking) if u have speed activate on your overview u have enough time to react and activate yours too.
and there are much more usefull tactics. no one said it's easy to fly a ceptor. the crow is one of the caldari ships where u don't need to think very much (means u will still kill more then u loose if u don#t think to much but will have looses too)
but if u use only a ab u will die pretty much to EVERY ceptor not only the crow. (or u won't kill anything because he can always escape)

One of us has the wrong idea how the sig radius would affect this example. Im pretty sure it is not me.
The explosion radius of a rocket is 20m. All interceptors are bigger than that (Although Im not sure if they can become smaller than that with those nifty implants), meaning rockets deals 100% damage every time. The increased sig radius from the MWD does NOTHING to effect the damage dealt. Higher sig radius does not INCREASE damage, but lower sig radius reduces damage dealt. Having a bigger sig radius than the weapon's radius does not give a damage boost, but it removes the loss of damage that would have been otherwise.
The same goes for fitting a Megathron with an MWD. No need to spare on the speed boost, because even though you don't use the MWD, your sig radius is still bigger than those of cruise missiles and torpedos even. If anything, using an MWD when your natural sig radius is bigger than the weapon's yields a better chance of survival. If you can't shrug off the damage by being smaller than the blast radius, you can always outrun the speed of the blast. Base explosion radius for a rocket is 2000m/s, which is slower than an average inty at max speed. Anything that goes faster is immune to the blast.

Not quite true. In will significantly lower the dmg but you have to fly quite alot faster the the explo velocity to reduce the dmg to zero. Regardless of that tho you will not increase rocket dmg by running a MWD, the only thing you need to look out for is getting webbed with ya mwd running when a missile boat is nearby. That will hurt.

I stand corrected. And yes, it is a good idea not to run an MWD when there are heavys and cruise missiles around. If you do, you better damn well fly straight and hit them at a high speed.

The crow is faster then a blaster taranis. You can neither get nor stay under 5k against a pilot worth anything, unless youre double-webbing. Even then its 50-50 if you can kill him before he kills you/warps. ------------------------------------------------ Derailing threads with logic since 1992 |

I regularly kill crows in my blaster ranis with no problems at all. It just takes some though and good piloting skills. Once your in blaster range he's dead in 5 secs. Please resize your sig. It is too large. (max size is 400x120 pixels/24000 bytes) -Falke |

IMO, the crow shouldnt be nerfed in power, its actually pretty weak, but in speed. Make it slower than all other intys in true caldari style. I dont see why gallante get the slow inty, we have the 2nd fastest tech 1 ships (behind minnie) and caldari have the slowest. If the crow was nerfed to 415m/s, it would be in balance.

in inty battles, theres 2 types. Long range intys and close range. long range inties, IF FASTER, beat close range, assuming same skilled pilots. however, close ranged inties will eat long ranged for breakfast if they are faster. capishe? Stressed out with empire politics?

Yes, all relevant skills being more or less equal, a blasterranis outdamages a rocket crow by a slight margin. The problem is that the crow will always be faster, rockets can hit up to 10km for full damage. Unless that crow pilot hasn't figured out that he needs to keep 3 km between himslef and that taranis, he's guaranteed to win. An AC claw with a webifier can take out a rocket crow, but then the crow can warp out anytime... I fly all three ceptors, and I've killed lots of inties in my taranis... I can say that the plated rocket crow, by virtue of its damage/speed/armor/no cap requirements/3 midslots is the most effective and flexible of the lot. Crows are the uber inti at the moment. Its a good thing they also seem to be the most expensive ones as well... I think rockets are overpowered at the moment... they do blaster level damage up to 10 km... wtf? To get this kind of damage with blasters, you must remain within 2 km... Which is impossible to accomplish against a pilot who knows. The taranis, for a blaster boat, is the second slowest inti of the lot. At least an AC claw can get decent hits at 4km, and can keep up with a crow.
