should've just given them to us
we'd just run a convoy of Gold Magnates and Guardian Vexors around the map on autopilot until they're all blown up Twitter: @EVEAndski

Red Templar wrote:Additional question.
Will it be audited by CCP where ISK go and that all ships will be handed out?
Or in case Somer will not hand over ships to winner, CCP will just say "Welp, we got scammed, no rule against that, good job"?
You just recently changed TOS over this. And since you are giving the ships, you are endorsing this lottery, thus it represents CCP.
Look at the last quote in the OP. They can't be bothered to audit what is literally giving a single player and his friends a half trillion ISK to give away through their lottery. Twitter: @EVEAndski

Spawn some unused clothes assets or whatever for this thing, but don't give away previously issued limited issue ships, especially not those that are no longer extant. Twitter: @EVEAndski

Gamer4liff wrote:Really, CCP? You're really just going to hand these fantastically rare items out to a player run organization at zero effort cost?
May as well re-seed the T2 BPO lottery while you're at it, at least that lottery wouldn't go through a player run organization.
But why bother reimplementing and retesting code unused since 2005 when they can let Blink give out the T2 BPOs? Twitter: @EVEAndski

Hey guys just give this player-run entity more ISK and you'll have a better chance of winning these things we're having them give away! Twitter: @EVEAndski

In exchange for Blink getting substantially increased traffic, massive amounts of ISK as a result, plus more $$ from GTC referrals which their players are awarded credits for, Blink is sponsoring a few billion in prizes in blink credits (lmao) and PLEX for PvP tournament participants.
This deal is clearly not skewed entirely in Blink's favor! Twitter: @EVEAndski

War Kitten wrote:CCP gives prizes to support all sorts of player-run events. This is not ground-breaking. 3+2 new copies of rare ships is not going to ruin the game. Personally I look forward to taking a shot at winning a Guardian Vexor. Hell Eve-Vegas itself is a player-organized event. Why not ***** and moan about CCP sending devs out to support it and spending valuable money and time that could be used developing features!
CCP's prizes for player-run events in the past have been petty things like PLEX. If you cannot recognize the difference between something like CCP giving an organizer of an RL meetup a handful of timecodes and literally driving players towards a gambling site with the hopes of winning a prize - and the chance of winning those prizes increasing the more ISK they spend - all in exchange for that gambling site giving away petty prizes at EVE Vegas, I can't help you.
Also, you realize that EVE Vegas is an extremely expensive event to organize, right? According to Zapa, it's $19k in deposits and $40k after all is said and done. It has never so much as broken even. Twitter: @EVEAndski

War Kitten wrote:I can see the difference, but CCP gave prizes to the Big Lottery for their anniversary. I can't think of other examples off the top of my head, but that one is pretty similar in terms of a money-generating gambling site. Where was the outrage then?
This completely dwarfs that, by leaps and bounds.

The sensible (CCP, sensible, looool) solution would have been to give a few unissued avatar apparel bits to the winners of the PvP tournament and 30 day GTCs to participants, not pumping mad ISK and RL money into a player's wallet. Twitter: @EVEAndski

oh wait blink's own stats indicate a massive activity spike which correlates with the announcement what a shock Twitter: @EVEAndski

Basically the three groups that will benefit the most from this arrangement are Somer, who will rake in more piles of ISK from people playing his lotteries to rack up tickets for the Blast, along with kickbacks from Markee Dragon from the GTC sales to people topping up their Blink credits and obviously CCP and Markee Dragon.
I guess you can count the people who will have a Guardian Vexor or Gold Magnate gathering dust in a hangar as well. Twitter: @EVEAndski

You know CCP, when you have Chribba, pirates, hisec bears, Goons, former BoB members, PL members, newbies, veterans, bittervets, collectors, and basically everyone in this game that isn't a complete troll or Blink fanboy telling you that you're doing something completely wrong to the point where you're repeating the same mistakes that caused the media storm that led to your creation of the very player council you failed to consult on this issue, you are seriously screwing up. Cierra Royce wrote:If they really must hand out new ships and fanfest tickets, then they should just leave the ships in a few special anomalies randomly scattered through high, low, worm and null. Let us go out and find and fight over them.
It's not just a fanfest ticket, it's an all-expenses paid trip. This isn't a typical promotion, they're promoting the hell out of Blink so that people will buy GTCs and blinks in hopes of getting a ticket. There is no other reason they would even entertain the thought of offering an all-expenses paid trip as a promotion for a bloody fansite. Twitter: @EVEAndski
