Wow, I have been expecting CCP to continue to reintroduce limited edition ships for promotions and gift packages but this really takes it to a whole new level, really devalues this history of the game. At least they have picked ships and quantities that are sensible but the message is clear: No ship is exempt from being seeded in future.
Giving them out via one of the richest groups in eve just makes it worse.

a) The ISK from the pools of these blinks
b) The difference in ISK deposited / blinked between an average week and the week of these special prizes

The increase in profits from more players using Somer after the exposure from this event could be in the hundreds of billions in the long run, even after factoring in the payouts and sponsorship. In fact I could easily imagine that Somer might make more money in the long run than an entity would from simply auctioning off the ships. Just the fact of CCP giving them their blessing in handing over these ships will (wrongly) convince many players Somer is completely legitimate, that's not to say that they necessarily aren't but this really doesn't prove anything.
Seems a very sketchy move.
