Since I have not seen any posting on this subject, I was wondering if others were having problems when logging on and getting a the flashing Envelope indicating new EVE mail but the messages are all old. Also, if I get a letter while I in game, I get the sound effect that I gave received mail, but doesn't show up in my folder untill I relog. Just wondering because it makes it difficult contacting people.

happens when you clear your prefs.ini, even if you delete them they are kept on the server and will show up as new on another computer/ install or similar _______________________________________________ Ahaahhhh you didn't count on my loyal army of Prostitutes did you? |

Also happens with two accounts on one machine.
1. Log account 1. 2. Log account 2. 3. Read mail in account 2. 4. Log out of account 2. 5. Log out of account 1.
By logging out of account 2 first it seems to either not record/ or be overwritten by the settings when you log out of account 1. --------------------------------------- CSM Chat Log September 25, 2003: Fuhry> Some things we simply cannot test, and therefore we just put it on Tranq. cross our fingers and then get into panic m |

I only use one account on my system and have not cleared my prefs.ini in a long time. This only started to happen after the latest patch.

I've had it a few times too. It's normally only 3 or 4 mails each time, but they are always old.
Have only had it a few times though, so it will take a few more until I see a pattern.. .

this happens to me when I have tons of emails in my inbox. I have to delete some to let the new ones show up.

This has only begun happening to me as well recently. I do not have two accounts, and have not deleted my prefs.ini file either.
Thanks Sirrah for bringing this up and putting my mind at ease - I figgered it was just something in my setup.

This has happend to me also. I get the beep and the flashing icon but when I open it up there are no new messages or even old messages that are flashing. It's like the server just thought it would be funny to make me look. ------------------------------------------------ "The best defense is a dead opponent." - Avaton White

Well, I can see that it is not just an issue on my system. I have not been able to come up with a way to resolve this problem so I am hoping CCP would reply and give me a statement on the issue.

There's a mail bug where once you have a certain amount of mail in your mailbox, you will continue to receive mail as it is sent to you but it won't show up in your mailbox until you delete some mail bringing you below some total number of messages allowed by the bug. Then all the mail sent to you which you couldn't see will appear all at once. So just clean out your mailbox periodically.

I experience the same problem, I log on and my inbox flashes and i open it up to find the same old mails flashing everytime i log on.
And no i havent touched my pref.ini file at all since i installed the game. The problem appears to be attached to the last patch...for me anyway.

Prolly related to the prefs.ini saver having a limited buffer per line. Open your prefs.ini and look up the lines that look like:
readpages12345678=111111|222222|333333|....
I think at some point it overflows the buffer reserved for the line and truncate it, making the client think you didnt read the mail#'s that got dropped off. Should be easy to fix.
