Oops it appears before posting I checked the motherships stats instead of the carrier, mothership (minmatar) can hold I think 45 fighters, the carrier only 18.
So I assume its not possible for the carrier/mothership to field all of its fighters at the same time, think I misread what was posted earlier about once being assigned they no longer count towards the carriers max drones in space, so 10,11 ish is gonna be max amount of fighters that can be deployed at a time including drone mods, still pretty good, just not as good as I first thought when I orginaly read the topic, had visions of 45 fighters flying around at a time from a single carrier lol

Well... 5 from drones 5, + 15 from carrier 5, + 5 from 5 drone control mods, give you a grand ganking total of 25 fighters... a respectable swarm, id say. :) ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug, it's a disgrace!

It's safe to say they're in-game. I have 3 currently being built (Gallente, Caldari, and Minmatar) and they'll be out of the oven in 1.5 days.
As for a new player having one within a year? It's highly unlikely. The skills alone to fly one will take you months and just because you can pilot one doesn't mean you'll be effective with it. No worries though - There's so many other ships for you to have fun with in the mean time.

Assigning fighters is a neat feature, but I wonder who gets the killmail if the carriers fighters lay the final blow while assigned to someone 
And to the OP, when you DO have the skills to fly a Carrier, expect to spend 3-4 months training skills to get the most out of it....

Well, I am training up for carrier, primarly for use in POS defence, Complex's and for speed running those lovely 0.4 lvl4 missions. I wonder what the insurance valuse of the carrier is.
It will take me a while, but I just need Advanced Spacehip Command 5, BS 5, and Drone Interfacing 5 as well as carrier 1 and I am all set. That may take me a few months though.... by which time factional warfare will be in and no doubt the carrier will have more uses. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Due to the mess with RMR factories and Carrier compatibility, the first player built carriers should be entering game during this sunday afternoon.
Insurance cost of carriers are around 250 million, depending on carrier. The insurance payout is around 750 million, depending on carrier. For platinum insurance.
All carriers can use up to 10 Fighters at once. All Motherships can use up to 20 Fighters at once. Nyx can hold 50 Hel can hold 45 Wyvern and Aeon can hold 40 Thanatos can hold 20 Nidhoggur can hold 18 Archon and Chimera can hold 16

It's not a crime as such, but rather inefficient. I do think Carriers will be rather efficient, however, Dreadnoughts are not. It happened that a Moros and a Deimos from different corps got a level 4 Assault mission (massive cruiser and battleship attack on player near the agent station) at the same time. They both undocked and recieved spawns on the exact same time. The Deimos finished the mission first.
Tailoring your ships to the mission works better than having one ship to beat them all. With Fighters, I think they might have problems hitting frigs... and frigs scramble.

As already pointed out they are not the best at doing missions but if someone spends 2 years playing the game and saves all their isk to purchase a capital ship ... then if they want to use it for missions ... why not

All due respect, but a battleship isn't optimal in a level 3 mission. More often than not you do those faster in a Deimos or Zealot.
Also, Carrier lock times are rubbish. It takes half a minute or more to lock a battleship without sensor boosters running.
