it's one of the odd things with the EVE client, some settings are un-naturally bound to the character, some to the account and it's even more of a mess when you have multiple installs. For your purpose, if you only need one overview setting per character, I'd suggest you save each under a different name then make each a different tab, that way you just have to switch tabs when switching characters. There's a bit of a cheat that might work for this, I use it for running multiple accounts across different monitor resolutions and graphics options.
The EVE settings files are kept under your Windows user account in a path based on where your EVE is installed. You can use Windows Junctions to make one EVE install appear to be installed in multiple folders.
eg Make some junctions... C:\Games\CCP\EVE_01 -> C:\Games\CCP\EVE (or wherever your existing EVE is installed) C:\Games\CCP\EVE_02 -> C:\Games\CCP\EVE C:\Games\CCP\EVE_03 -> C:\Games\CCP\EVE
If you start EVE in C:\Games\CCP\EVE_01 it will use a CFG in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_ccp_eve_01_tranquility If you start EVE in C:\Games\CCP\EVE_02 it will use a CFG in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_ccp_eve_02_tranquility If you start EVE in C:\Games\CCP\EVE_03 it will use a CFG in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_ccp_eve_03_tranquility
You could assign each character to one of the copies and have each with their own settings. You only have to patch once (from the original folder) to update the lot and it only takes up a few extra kbytes for the junctions and extra config files. |
