I stated this thread--> Linkageness and the dicission got me thinking. So rather than clog up with an off topic post It would be interesting to see if I am the only one who thinks he aint a geek but probably is. So hence I bring this post to the general forum.
I play for about 28 hours a week if I am lying erm I mean honest. Is this too much? will my brain go to mush? Will my wife leave me if I carry on?

Unless she plays eve too, yes, she will if she's smart.
Yeah, I play too much too.

I only play for about 15-20 hours per week, but I also spent a lot of time creating websites to be used by the game. I've been cutting back my hours a lot. Making it through a day of work on 4 hours sleep is rough. -- Channel "TCSyn Casino" - IGB Slots, Blackjack & Poker.

28 hours per week aint that bad and if your mrs leaves you cause of that then you're better of without her
I play around 8 - 10 hours a day when I'm not working, sometimes more, I have fallen asleep at the keyboard on more than one occasion .
I hit a compromise with the wife .... I moved the computer into the front room so at least I'm in the same room as her, though she does complain about looking at the back of my head now and again
Do I play too much ? probably Am I addicted ? without doubt Do I need help ? probably
DO I CARE ? not in the slightest --------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Jezala on 20/01/2006 00:06:11 The way I play EVE, 4 hrs a day seems about right. I probably have EVE up and running 5-6 hrs a day, but the reality is that I'm not actively playing for a good chunk of that time. Probably 3-4 hrs are spent afk in some form or another, be it doing some house chores, bills, multi-tasking, or just kicking back and watching TV.
To me EVE is more of a hobby than it is a video game...most likely the reason why I don't feel too guilty about the amount of time I've spent on it.

Heh, probably. I've been playing coming up to 3 years in May, and I took the rather drastic step of removing my RAM and asking my wife to hide it. Otherwise I think we would have been going to the "Less Eve or a divorce" choice.
As I can't afford to get divorced, it was the only way!
Now I don't have to worry about willpower, and I can play a couple of nights a week guilt free.

Edited by: Azraelion on 20/01/2006 00:29:19 Edited by: Azraelion on 20/01/2006 00:28:26 Right, some people play golf 5 times a week for 4 hours, some play Eve, it's all fine as long as you don't neglegt your friends, your familiy, your partner, your kids and your work (or neglegt looking for work if you don't have a job). As long as real life stays #1, perfect, have fun.
If you'd rather leave your wife than Eve, you should seek professional help, fast...in this case your hobby has become an addiction, and like alcohol or drugs, cheating yourself by saying it's all fine or thinking you could handle it yourself is a lie that can ruin your life.
On the bight side: No, your brain will stay in perfect condition. Just DON'T grab some high tech small arms and insist that your one month hunting pass is valid for the rats in the local sewer system, too.

*Sigh* Now look, all you have to do is get your spouse to play. I'm setting up a network at home, because my son and I play together!! My hubby loves hunting, and now doesn't feel guilty that he's out so much killing things:) He can brag about all those turkeys, deer, geese, ducks, squirrels, quail, fish etc he's ganked or trapped, and my son and I can talk about all the things WE gank:D ( roids FTW!) ( Ok, my son prefers to do low sec stuff.. ) Sometimes my son goes with him, othertimes he's with me:D --------- "English doesn't borrow from other languages.
