I am very interested in getting in a good PvP guild.I have 70% of skills unlocked. I haven't played in months but I was addicted to HoH and used to play for 5 hours a day just in HoH as healer monk. I am rank 3(noob ), the builds I have most experience with are Healer Monk(LOTS) and Ranger spiker/trapper. I never played iway as it was fame farming, and now i see minion factory is the new fame farm build. I wont be able to give it my full time just yet , have eve and a few more games to play, but its top of my list so i'll mail you soon.

It's fun still here and there but the skill and balance just isn't there. It's all about the build and that's it. Wish it was skilled tactical pvp like eve but simply it's not. Simple systems for simple games.
Again, Guild Wars only becomes deeper the further up you play. The game is definitely not all about the build when you play against top guilds; theres a massive amount of skill, tactics, communication etc involved. Its not similar to Eve in its style, but I think its similar in the complexity and teamwork required, which si why I think Eve players will make awesome GW players.
Keep those evemails (etc) coming...we'll have a good squad soon!
Sorry but it's all about the build. If you bring a build to counter another build. then no amount of tactics will save you from defeat.

And if you dont hit a build that you're built to counter, you have a hard time, and depending on how strictly you built to counter that other build, may auto-lose.
This is what's called a 'metagame'; the game outside the game. The key to correct metagaming is being able to counter other things without compromising your ability to beat other builds too much.
Build is a massive part of the game, but build will only get you so far. The rest of the way is tactics. It's not just all about the build :P
Would any of you guys object to geting in touch over MSN? I have the free time to chat and organise things whilst im in work of a day, but am having trouble catching a few of you online in eve. My MSN address is [email protected] - if you could give me a shout there, or post your msn here, that would be a great help in getting this off the ground.
Cheers

There's an in-game channel going now; its proving a little tough to get in touch with everyone (buddy list not working ftlose) so I figured this is best for now. The channel is:

Please join when you get a chance!

At 20:30 eve game time (That's 2030 GMT too!) we're going to be getting onto some GW and forming the guild, starting to play, etc. We've got a small team of leet PvPers (I think? :P ) but we're still looking for a few more.
If you're interested, give me a shout, or join eve-gw in game and speak to someone there!

OMG! Same here! I was in Pirates of BBQ Bay, we even made guild of the week, but inactivity killed it. I blame myself as well, I was playing too much Eve.
GW is great, I wish I had the time... but my corp is eating up most of it.
Edit to add: I might poke you ingame anyways, for the heck of it, but to warn you, my leet GW skills have become rusty.
And I'd rather not quit BBQ because of the fond memories.

Guild of the week, nice! Im pretty sure I fought BBQ before now. Did you spam tombs with an earthquake/aftershock build for a few weeks? I remember saying on TS "I hope someone brought healing seed..." shortly before some stupid fun build or other got blown up :)
Everyone has said at some point this week, "you know im gonna be rusty?", hehe. We're all gonna be rusty, but I bet it comes back in a few days.
And then, championships 2007 ftw :P

Originally by: Brother Benthor I have Guild Wars Collectors Edition, but never played it much, cause the problem in Guild Wars is that if u dont have a guild, u mainly are playing a Single Player game. I might consider getting back to the game and help u guys with the project :)
I play necro/mesmer, its my favourite combination.
the game is very grindy untill you reach level 20 and theres nothing else to do. PvP is where the fun is. and it is fun. believe me.
I allready have a nice guild i play with. but else i would love to join. Testy Mctest: what guild did you play in, just out of curiosity. __________________________________ the sig of Freya Runestone decided to take a vacation |

I remember playing the guild wars trial beta thing before it was released, and it was great fun doing those levels with a bunch of mates over comms - i remember us all going frantic while trying to beat down some weird sacrificing viking boss, which used to kill us in one hit.
I bought the game, started it up, then couldnt figure out what the hell i was doing.. just doesnt seem as much fun. Maybe i was expecting too much, ill have to give it another go

Edited by: Yezah on 08/03/2006 11:27:49 Edited by: Yezah on 08/03/2006 11:27:08 I was playing GW since January beta ('05) till about last october. Had to quit cos the game kept crashing on me and since I used to play HoH (got rank 8, about 3600 fame) all the time, having the game crashing regularly makes it very difficult.
The 1st expansion comes out april so I might start playing again, the new skills + proffesions should bring some exitement back (have unlocked every single skill, rune and weapon upgrade).

Edited by: KaneED on 08/03/2006 15:10:34 I'd like to play with fellow eve players.
I've not really done PVP but I'm an omgubermonk and I spend most of my time farming SF atm so I can get some money to get the I want so I can be more uber.
It'd be nice to farm with people that had a clue.
Obviously PVP is what you want, but I'm a really quick learner and I'm sexy too.
Let me in :(
I'm Albert Scorcher in game.
I dunno what the current status of this thing is, but if its defunct what about settings a guild of eve players who are not ****s? ________________________________________

Still going on ?
Me and a friend or two are considering trying GW, however without a large guild, it is a single player game (except towns) it seems.
Is it worth wasting time and money ?
p.s: sent me a mail in-game (eve), I do not watch the OOPE thread.

Guild Wars... is that the game I played in beta with wizards and people on horses and plants that eat you which was pretty much the same as WoW and every other 'fantasy' mmo game ever made?

When I first bought it, it was my first MMORPG. Don't ask why I never tried anything else. Also, I was on a ~2yr gaming break.
Got the game, loved it for the first month. Then realised that the quests were repetitive and meaningless as all that mattered was capping bosses to get all the 1337 skills and mindless PvP'ing over and over again.
So after that I sold it.
