Hello Everyone.
This will Be The last post made on this subject. I bluescreen Consistantly whilst playing EvE. Constantly. Not just occasionally, but every 5minutes.
It seems to Randomise the BSOD's but mostly I get
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
and the Code
0x000000D1 or A1.
I have updated every driver going, Direct X, Graphics You name it I've updated it.
It used to happen very very occasionally before RmR but now its unplayable.
It also seems to occur when playing Any game of Anytype whatso ever.
I've made a dozen posts on this subject but all I get is Anti-pirate spam, stupid idiots telling me to "OMG GET A BTERR PC NUBBINSLOLOLOLOL", and mods moving it to the forum equivilent of nowhere.
As I said, this is the last time I try to fix this problem.
The next Thing I do will be to cancel the account entirely.
Pc Specs:

Hey dude..
Youve already said it happens on all or most of your games.. It would certainly seem it is not EVE that is your problem.
I would seriously consider upgrading your ram and GFX card as well. At first glance they scream for a bit of love.
Good luck, and can I have your stuff. ===============================================

If its occuring when you play any game of any type, perhaps the problem has nothing to do with EVE. Could be faulty or conflicting hardware. If you arnt computer savy, i would take it into a store to get someone who is to have a look at it. Good luck, and dont quit EVE over it, its not EVEs fault :P Nasica

If it's happening with other games as well, then Eve is not the problem. It may be a hardware issue, or it may be that Windows needs to be re-installed.

I once had this problem, long before I played EVE. Your mileage may vary, but in my case it was a RAM chip that had gone bad. The machine passed the boot tests, but when I finally ran some open source mem check program (sorry, forgot name) on it, one of my two chips failed repeatedly. Replacing the chip fixed the problem completely.

Got a separate sound card or are you playing with the onboard one?
If a separate one, have you disabled your onboard one?
Do you crash if you disable sound?

If you find the res.stuff fix someone mentioned dosnt fix it.. get off your ass and spend the 100 quid it would cost to upgrade that relic. start by first putting a minimum of 1 GB of ram in your pc.. Get yourself a half decent graphics card, then format and reinstall windows.

That's nice, but you probably patch your OS and update drivers from time to time, and that's probably your problem if the hardware hasn't changed. Providing some part of the hardware hasn't just decided to go bad on you, of course.

When did the problem start then ? Did it start before you started playing EVE ? Did it start only after you started playing EVE ? Did it start after installing some new hardware ? If you have a sound card in a PCI slot, have you tried sticking it in another PCI slot ? Can you borrow a stick of a friends RAM and give it a go in your box for 30minutes ? Can you run 3D graphics test programs like 3DMARK without it crashing ? Just some ideas. Normally the list i go through when my POS starts being a POS :P Good Luck Nasica

Driver conflict or hardware failure. Nothing at all to do with EVE, just happens that EVE is using the Driver / Hardware that triggers the fault.

Yeah, BSOD isn't blackface.
Your BSOD problem is caused by having faulty IRQ priority settings on your motherboard and bios. Chances are you've added some hardware recently. The bios doesn't have a clean idea of what device goes where on the mobo, and probably has more than 1 device on a certain IRQ, or on shared IRQ's has the wrong shared IRQ's.
For reference, the IRQ's set priority for input into the system.
SO...I'd recommend upgrading your motherboard and bios, honestly. And there's no way in hades I'm going to walk you through it, there are other places and sites that can do that. Another possibility is to go in manually and set your IRQ order...again that's something you need to figure out yourself.
Disclaimer: While I've had this problem myself, this is what fixed it for me. I make no guarantees as to the accuracy of this information in your situation.
Mirel, use google, verify the information I've given you with what you have, and be patient. This isn't something you can just flip a switch and figure it out. I heartily recommending hiring someone to take care of this problem.

You post basic hardware specs and yet omit one of the more important issues i.e. operating system. If your running XP then you've seriously missed the boat as 512Mb RAM is generally considered the min spec for that to run well. I'd also have a look through the system utilities and check for clashing IRQs in the hardware. The fact that you're having problems with more than Eve suggests that it's a system issue and nothing to do with Eve itself. I would imagine that you'd need to run all games on minimum graphics. When updating drivers I find it better to remove the old ones entirely, before installing new ones, others the old ones can occaisionally leave dross lying around. [ |

RAM degrades over time, and it's never guaranteed your brand new stick of RAM won't be without fault.
Faulty RAM often leads to arbitrary failures - when you use regular windows, usually faulty RAM is handled with exceptions. A program may crash, or something might just "get weird", but usually you can still continue working.
However, games seldom have elegant mechanisms to deal with arbitrary memory failure. Often the game makes assumptions on data stored in memory, and then when there is a mismatch, it might crash, or it might even BSOD. It's happened to me, and I recommend running this, just to make sure.

I had the exact same problem on my laptop a while ago, I sent it back to Dell and they found out that that particular crash was being caused by a faulty RAM chip. It might be worth checking your RAM.
The computer was fine when windows was being used, but when I was trying to run games the thing would bluescreen 9 times out of 10.
I'm a pretty technical user and I had spent a shipload of time trying to debug drivers put the OS into safe mode etc but I was still having problems. It's only after a friend of mine came around with some spare RAM and we tried swaping it out that I saw any change at all.
If you can't afford RAM I'd suggest you take out the current memory and bring it to a decent computer shop for testing or 'borrow' some from a friend to see if you have any luck.
Good luck fixing this, I was tearing my hair out for nearly 2 weeks. The BSOD message is far too generic.

This is usually known as a Stop Error. It means there is a problem with the drivers you are using for your installed hardware. You say you are always updating to the latest drivers, but have you checked whether the drivers you are installing are the correct drivers.
Also what is your operating system?
Moving this to out of pod because it is not a EVE Known Issue and is not specifically EVE related.

The bad news is, this error and blue screens can be almost anything, all you can really do is start eliminating possibilities. Sadly, in fixing this, you are likely to get a pretty in depth crash course in PC troubleshooting. These are the problems that frustrate very knowledgeable technicians on a regular basis.
Assuming all drivers are up to date (and I include system board drivers in this statement), I'd want to eliminate a software cause entirely ASAP to avoid digging in the hardware if unnecessary.
The easiest way to eliminate software without losing data is to go buy or borrow a cheap hard drive, do a fresh install of the OS with drivers and test it. Failure still there, time to look at hardware, failure gone, you know the problem is software. You can eliminate hours of software troubleshooting by doing it this way.
On to hardware...
I'd start with a firmware upgrade if one is available. You'll need to check with the people who made your motherboard to get the latest bios version. While you are there, snag the manual for your mother board, often they are available as a PDF?
It could be a thermal issue, especially if it crops up over time. Do all of the fans in your system work?
Ram problems (both system memory and video card memory) are common problems that cause blue screens. Also 256MB is just not enough for heavy gaming. Snag another 256 from somewhere and swap it with the 256 installed now and see if the problem goes away. If it does go away, trash the old ram, if it does not, you now own a badly needed upgrade.
Borrow a video card from a friend, swap them and install the correct drivers, see if the problem goes away...
Are you overclocked? Is your graphics card overclocked?
Thing is, you may be overclocked and not know it, especially if you bought a whitebox clone from a small time vendor, both configuration mistakes and fraud happen. If the board's bus speed and multiplyer are set via jumper, you need to make sure the are set properly for your processor. Make sure your processor is really what it they claim, you can usually verify this by just looking or putting a serial number in at the vendor's website.
At this point, you have eliminated the more easily repaired hardware issues. You are left with CPU (VERY possible), a bad mother board (also quite possible), something very flakey like a power issue. Most likely time to pay someone like me to actually get their hand's dirty and figure it out.

one thing I love about techies is that, give a problem and enough time to froth about it, they will come up with ever more complicated and intricate solutions ![Very Happy](/images/icon_biggrin.gif)
...without first covering the basics ![Razz](/images/icon_razz.gif)
You say you've updated every driver and that the problem occurs on nearly every game.
...have you tried rolling your drivers back to the last time they worked? Basically put, Nvidia drivers are meant to be backwards compatable - and they are. But small incompatability issues between graphics cards and motherboards, for example, can be exposed as drivers improve and technology advances. So in some cases, updating graphics drivers can actually cause your problems. If you go to the Nvidia site and search on "archive" you'll find their old drivers, try keep going back until you find one that works or go back to a point a year or so back and keep coming forward untill it breaks.
One second thing, might be stating the obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people get caught out by this. When updating Nvidia drivers, you do remember to uninstall (and I'd recommmend also deleting) the old driver first, don't you?

Heh. Ive had this too at one time or another... maybe youre not cleaning your pc of the old drivers before installing the new ones?
Install DriverCleaner. Follow the instructions to cleaning your video and soundcard drivers.
In fact, do it for all the drivers: uninstall them all, rebot into safe mode, run driver cleaner on all the drivers it knows about youve ever had installed, reboot into windows and install the latest drivers.
Its a bother, but uninstalling the old drivers and cleaning with drivercleaner every time i update video/sound drivers has saved me a lot of hassle further on. The majority of the problems ppl have with drivers today come from having multiple versions of the drivers stored in the systems .cab files.
You might also wanna consider getting a new videocard... an fx5200 is 25ú and a 6200 is 35ú @ OcUK ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug, it's a disgrace!

Quote: How do I do a MotherBoard Firmware Update?
It varies by manufacturer, you need the exact model of your motherboard, then look it up on the manufacturer's website and see if there are updates. If there are, there will be instructions on how to do the update, follow the instructions to the letter.
Often it involves making a disk and booting to it, some have a windows based configuration manager, I strongly prefer diskette based solutions for this.
Video cards have firmware as well BTW and some problems can be solved that way, very similar process.

And take a look at your fans & heatsinks, see if theyre clogged with dust, could be the cpu is reaching critical temps and resetting the syetem - there arent many games as cpu-intensive as eve. ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug, it's a disgrace!

I solved the BSOD problem by replacing the the Face.stuff thing, now a new problem has emerged.
It Randomly restarts my PC every 5-10mins. No errors, no causes, just restarts it as if I had pressed the Off switch.
Any ideas?

Not really but I would have expected a hardware fault issue causeing that to did the restarts anyhow not the BSODs...and make sure you turn off be fore disablebing the CPUs heatsink fan ![Twisted Evil](/images/icon_twisted.gif) ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

I recently got my machine to start running Eve properly again, after having somewhat similar symptoms.
My problems:
Heat Exchange <- Super dirty fans. I have a CoolerMaster "squirrel" blower on my CPU, the fins where totally engulfed in dust. The fan on my graphics card had a screen over it, also completely packed with dust. It took 3 cans of spray air, and much scrapping and brushing before I was satisfied with the cleaning. I saved as much of the dust as I could and when finished came out to about 3 grams of dust. That's alot.
Graphics Drivers <- I've always been told to use the most up-to-date drivers from my manufacturer, not Nvidias drivers. Well, my manufacturuer might make a decent card, but their drivers are god awful. I went and got the newest Nvidia ForceWare drivers, installed them, problem's gone.
Hope this helps.
