2% of the time its an actual noob who thinks this is CoD and you just jump in and shoot all the things.
These statistics are +/- 2%.
Those 2% are the best though. Need more people willing to shoot all the things instead of whine about all the things shooting them. Hey CCP, please slush my fund like you did for SOMER Blink. |

Sorry, but brand new players are usually at fault...as referenced by their complete idiocy when they refer to any type of build and cry about wondering why it got destroyed then threatening to report the other for attacking them when they were the ones that engaged the other/stole their stuff/etc...
If a new player flies into low sec and engages in combat, that sounds like they know what they are doing. If a new player engages in combat in His Sec and gets blown away by CONCORD, that sounds like they don't know what they are doing. So, if you mean the latter, I would agree that the new player is at fault. You mentioned steeling... not sure to which scenario you are referring. |

Well the only scenario i can think of is if a player would be a valid (legal) target from stealing would be if they stole something from another player in highsec. To do that, they need to manually set their safety to amber, before being able to take the cargo from a player owned container.
Of course, if a more seasoned player tricked them into doing this (EG: Please can you help me move my cargo, I havn't got enough space on my ship) then yes, I would (personally) lean sympathy a little more toward the fresh player. However, rookie or otherwise, they have to wonder "could this scenario harm me in any way?" If you cannot say "no" straight away, it probably could. Betty White knows it |

Good for them I say. They know more about what eve is really about than you do.
Having fun, preferably at someone who isn't expecting it's expense. |

Andrew Indy wrote:The funny thing is that most real noobs most likely would not even know what a petition was .
I got killed 3 times within my first hour (a guy in the newb channel asked for some "Help" moving some stuff from a Can) but I did not even learn that i could have petitioned it until months and months later and I did not care because all I lost saw a few noob ships.
If you know enough to raise a petition and set your dot to yellow then you know enough to die (and where not guided into it by the offender).
The fact you're a noob in Eve and don't know the GAME mechanics doesn't necessarily mean you're new to MMO games and petitions. Some things are pretty universal, you know.
Also, in my experience (and I AM a noob), there's ALWAYS guys with over a year's worth of SP hanging around the tutorial areas with a suspect flag, trolling for victims. And then there's the locked cans sitting there with 'free stuff for noobs'. Which, if you don't know any better, you just might try to open with that nice gear your tutorial just gave you.
You might all have forgotten how it is, but there's an astonishing amount of stuff to learn about EVE, and it can be quite overwhelming. And you need to be either pretty damn paranoid or prewarned to avoid all the pitfalls. Member of <Fated> since 2003 fated.europefreeforum.com |

Why isn't it healthy? It's a harsh game and the fewer coddled teat-suckling new players it gets, the better.

Correct. The fact that they took the initiative to shoot at someone is incredibly healthy for everyone, and this game. Rifterlings pirate corporation is now recruiting pilots for lowsec solo & small gang operations. Visit our website at www.rifterlings.com or join our in game channel weflyrifters to speak to a recruiter. |
