i'm looking to tackle/orbit form 5 to 10 km, with ab, webber, and disruptor in meds. wondering which weapon system would be better... new to the interceptor concept.
thx in advance! :)

I personally recommend (usually) staying 10km+ and having standards and mwd, but if you want to use AB and orbit close, fit rockets. More dps.

stds take longer to kill your target. Stressed out with empire politics?

Aids std missile hits you wreckingly, you will die slowly over the next 10 years.

Edited by: McCade on 21/01/2006 23:31:19 While they don't do serious damage per hit (esp with my skills), Rockets deff scare the hell outta people due to the non-stop barrrage. Mine only have like a 1.5s delay between salvos. From what I've read they do more dot (dmg over time). Only caveot is that you have to orbit pretty close.
It's cool to fire a weapon that almost never pauses between shots.

Edited by: bunnygerbil on 21/01/2006 23:34:45 Depends what your fighting really.
rockets for frigs and engagements where you dont have to tank mega damage.
However i've killed a few cruisers solo by using standard missiles and a 20km scram then orbiting at 18km with bursts of a mwd. Nothing can track you and deal high damage on you
Oh i forgot to add, dont attack anything that packs lots of missiles that ends badly

If that's the case, you won't be the best tackler. AB on a Plated crow doesn't equate to great speed, if you're looking to orbit at that distance, you'll want a 7.5km scrambler, meaning you need to very quickly close to that distance before your target aligns and warps off, afterburner wont cover that distance most often. Best to pack and mwd and use rockets.
Advantage of that is against solo targets you then dont need a tracking disruptor since your orbiting at 500m and their guns wont hit. That assumes you don't get webbed at any range inside (typically) 10km though

i like to fly for speed personally...
3 x rkt TII, 1 sml nos (or small gun) 1 gisti A-type MWD, web, 7.5k scram(faction scram with 11k range would be awesome here) 2 x local nanos, 1 cap power
alternatively you can use a plated setup for the lows...
i can orbit at 5k @ 4km/s with that and can obviously fly much faster in a straight line......no guns can track you, and if i get hit with a 90% web i'm still going almost 600m/s @ 5k.....guns still won't track you, unless hes loaded with tracking enhancers...
ships made of plastic tho, you gotta be careful not to get hit cause you will die fast....

You honestly beleive a Crow with a Gistii webbed can't be hit by other ceptors? Damn, some people are clueless.

Rockets for killing frigs. Lights for long range tackling of BS and cruisers (with a tracking disruptor), who have webs or smart bombs. You can hit with lights out to 50km's with missiles skills at IV on a Crow, so might be worth while against stupid frigs.
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

Originally by: Ragnar6 i'm looking to tackle/orbit form 5 to 10 km,
Hum... Not sure that is a good distance for tackling; I would either go below 5km with a warp scrambler (the one that works up to 7,5 km), or stay out of web range (outside 10km) and use a warp disruptor (the one that works up to 20 km).
That being said:
-if, for whatever reason, you are going to work under 10 km and you are in a crow, rockets all the way: ---they have a much higher damage output thant std missiles (30%+) ---Much easier to fit; rocket launchers use 4 grid, std missile launchers use 8 grid.
-if, for whatever reason, you are staying over 15 km, std missiles are your only option; rockets don't hit this far out.
-in the 10-15 km range, it's a toss. With very good missile and inty skills, a Crow can still hit with rockets from this range so I'd go with them.
And it doesn't make a bit difference but anyway... rocket skills are a bit faster to train than std missile skills.
Hope that helps a bit!

What do you lot think of the following defensive Crow setup?
3 * Limos Rockets + Thorns 1 * Small Knave NOS
1 * 1MN MWD 2 * X5 Webbers
2 * MAPC 1 * 400mm Nanofibre Plate
I'm not out to scramble anyone, but be nice to give someone a scare should they havea go at me :p
