Can yall help me with my conversion real quick? I want to make sure I got this right. EST is 4 hours behind....right? So like if someone says "This event will take place at 12:00 eve time or ET," then that means it is 8:00 A.M. in EST....right? |

Easiest way, when you're logged it look at the clock bottom left of the screen and compare it to your time, that gets you the time difference without any chance of someone telling you wrong.
EVE time = GMT. |

For the moment, you're right Enochx.
In a few weeks (I think the weekend of 2/3 November), the US will go to Standard Time (fall back an hour, so EDT/GMT -4 becomes EST/GMT -5). So your 1200 ET op will be at 0700 EST.
It's easier to just keep things to "Eve Time" (ET) when you're talking amongst your corpies/friends in game.
Also, while you're on EVE-Gate, current ET is in the upper right corner just below the search box. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

In Windows 8 (other versions are similar):
1. Click on the time at the bottom right. 2. Click on "Change date and time settings..." 3. Click on the tab "Additional Clocks". 4. Check the box "Show this clock". 5. Set "Select time zone:" to "(UTC) Coordinated Universal Time". 6. Set "Enter display name:" to "EVE" 7. Click "OK".
To see EVE time, click on the time at the bottom right. Two clock faces appear now, one with EVE time.
True GMT is an oddity in that it isn't defined for sub-second resolution, and it doesn't honour leap seconds, but nearly every implementation that uses GMT ignores those facts.
Eastern Standard Time: UTC - 5 Eastern Daylight Time: UTC - 4 |

You know I gotta say.....as far as forums go, this community is by far the most helpful I have ever come across in all of my MMO/forum trollings. Appreciate it once again. |

Life is much easier this way. but yes, eve runs off of GMT zulu
Are there any states on the east coast that do this? One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

I don't think so. In fact the only state I know of that doesn't do the daylight savings time is Arizona. I am sure there are others....but that's the only one I know of. |

No offense and Im happy you have been helped.
But you NEVER thought about the idea of launching EVE, looking at the in game time which is always displayed and grabbing a watch/cell phone/wall clock/what ever that displays local time and compare them and do some basic math. sad to say no. This did not occur to me. I am afraid even the saying "hindsight is 20/20" doesn't even help me here. I WISH it had occured. |

I personally use this: http://www.eveinfo.net/complexes/inde~246.htm
Bah, broken link, just copy-paste that into your browser bar, should come up with a time conversion for EST at any point in the day. |

Another tool I use is my desktop calendar (on my Mac, that is Apple's Calendar app), set an appointment for 12:00UTC and see where it pops up.
In a perfect world I would be able to subscribe to various EVE calendars from Calendar, and there would be no need for this constant to-and-fro :)

states of:
Arizona Hawaii
then U.S. territories: Peurto Rico Samoa Guam Mariana Islands Virgin Islands
I thought there was a 3rd State actually, but guess I was wrong on that assumption |
