Well... so far, standard UI font seems way to big... but when you change it to smaller, it gets allmost unreadable (is that a word?) chats are kinda oke with small UI, but rightclick in space text etc is to small/no smooth text |

Yeah, the lowest percentage for UI scaling makes the font too small and nigh unreadable. |

yeah the smaller scaling was mostly for people who have low resolution monitors and want to fit more windows on their screens when they're in fleet fights or other occasions where they might want to fit many windows CCP Punkturis | EVE UI Developer |

Might be True...
But I run an 1920 resolution, and with the standard UI the text (and textboxes) are way to big. You lose total overview on screen.. with smaller UI the overview (overview on screen that is, not battle overview :D) is oke with 1920, but as said text unreadable |

As the labels mean nothing at the moment I can give you the following feedback and remember IGÇÖm an OAP so eyesight may be a bit wanting lol.
Running a 24GÇ¥ screen at 1920 * 1200
At the first setting the text is really small in just about any situation but still manages to overlap and scrunch up in the [Esc] menu when viewed from the log in screen. The left side menus are the worst.
When logged in I changed it to the second label and this made the text much more readable but it also caused the text labels on some icons in the station view window to run out of space. For instance I have a container called GÇÿShip Fittings High SlotGÇÖ and the icon displays GÇÿShip FittingsGÇÖ and nothing else.
It seems the step up in size makes the small text the correct size but some text that is slightly larger becomes to large for the space provided. It looks like some text is displayed in a sort of fixed width and some in proportional text.
Otherwise not bad.

The Power/CPU Bars in the fitting window don't re-render at proper scale if you change to a different scale. Closing then opening the window does not reset them either. If you can't replicate it, try changing scale with the fitting window already open.

1. Can I get the "expanded font width" back please? I'm used to reading fonts with a "normal width" other than this weird narrowness of EVE fonts.
2. The font needs to be improved to scale better at smaller font sizes...
3. The font is jagged, or having "disappeared" corners where the pixels at the corners appear to be too faint and makes it look like it has a broken line instead of a curve (I can't explain it well) |

It's great that substantial UI text blocks are finally readable. It would be nice if it was slightly more granular, - user specified % or similar in order to customize for a player's specific screen & resolution.
Small issue with Agent portrait with large scaling option selected:

What a pleasant surprise to see this feature being worked on CCP Punkturis. Excellent.
I use a 17" monitor at a 1280x960 resolution so my screen in usually very cluttered with all kinds of windows especially while doing PvP/fleet ops. So a scalable UI would be more than welcome for me.
I was playing around with the feature on Sisi this evening scaling the UI down to the lowest percentage and on several occasions some and sometimes all windows of the UI would disappear except for the part with the shield/armor/structure/cap and the modules (don't know what it is called). This happened while flying in space, ratting at belts.
The windows did return (some, not all) after clicking in space and on objects.
I forgot to take screenshots. If you like I can try again later and post em here.

The UI Scaling is working pretty well overall:
I am testing the UI Scale DOWN to 90% Since it is most likely what I will be using...
Things I discovered going through regular routines :
- Changing the UI Scaling while having the Corporation Window open will leave the Corporation window blank, and requires a close and re-open to get functional again
-Single Line Number Fields will show only half of the last digit on the default value in the field, so it shows 15.( instead of 15.0, for example - or only half of the default value of last number on that field, etc. It will persist until you ADD a number to the sequence, so 15.0 will show correctly after you put 15.08, and then it will show all numbers completely.
-On Single Line Text Fields : with long text lines the Cursor will drift from the actual data entry point. This also affects highlighting in that sequence, so the highlight will not display correctly and you are not sure what you are actually highlighting!
On the sequence, I will mark 'x' where the cursor actually is, rather than the end of the number sequence
On the Number : 1.032132132132123213213232131233213x2111
On the word : OPERATIONxS
---
Visual issues :
My Name on the TOP Left of the Sidebar Menu is a bit fuzzy and difficult to read on the Smaller UI.
Reading Ammo Readouts on your modules in Space is a bit difficult on the smaller scale.
When Dragging Bookmarks into a Bookmark Folder, the folder doesn't highlight anymore - and isn't communicating to the user that you will actually be dropping in that folder.
-To me the 90% smaller UI Scale is much more in line with the sizes of the fonts in the older font set, so I really appreciate that setting - there are some places where the new font is a tiny bit more difficult to read at that scale. I know it's a "Can't have your cake and eat it too" in this specific situation - but maybe something to consider. NOSTRO AURUM NON EST AURUM VULGI |

Other Random UI Bug not necessarily related to UI Scaling
Collapsing (double click header) of a window and then uncollapsing it, will make it re-open at the minimum vertical size of that window - so it breaks collapsing totally (can't use it without breaking your UI)
This is Scaling related, sometimes on rescaling in space The Overview/Selected Item window have disappeared. My overview disappeared one time, and my selected window pane another time. NOSTRO AURUM NON EST AURUM VULGI |

You want screen shots of bugs? I made a collage of 4 bugs. Sisi build as of Nov 2, 2011
http://eve-files.com/dl/248955
On the right is what I see when I go to the esc menu. Text on top of text, and alot of no label messages. Top left is the message I get once I select a font size. I assume its asking me if I want to accept, so I click yes. I do in fact get a different font scale. But I also get a brief flash of red on the HUD, as seen in the lower left. Its sort of like when you refit at a POS. (I was in a Proteus for this test).
Unrelated to UI scaling, I look hideous!

UI Scaling might be a good idea but at 100% it needs to look exactly as TQ looks now on all the various resolutions.
For people who have TV's then they can use UI Scaling increase as they need.
If it's going to create problems do we really need it? I welcome all feedback both for and against my point of view. |

Hi Chloe, I don't see why it would create problems.
The feature is in its testing stages and as far as I can see CCP is working out the kinks so there won't be any problems at any resolution. Hence this thread. |

With UI-scaling setting at 90% the text in the window tabs seems to be positioned to low as it touches the window frame below it and sometimes the text crosses into the window like with the 'g' . This seems to apply with all windows.
I am seeing exactly the same thing with 90% scaling. This happens with every window that has tabs. It happens to every letter that decends below the line.
This 90% scaling (i only have 100% and 90% options available) answers pretty much every gripe I had in your Font dev blog. I approve! The font itself is still rather difficult to read as it feels stretched in the vertial direction.
Tedric.
Edit: messed up the quoting text. |

Thanks for your comments and screenshots, we're taking a look at the tab names in 90% scaling.
UI Scaling shouldn't have any effect on 100% scaling, there are however some changes in the UI here and there - related to other feature work so of course it won't be exactly the same as on TQ now (we for example have a new font). CCP Punkturis | EVE UI Developer |
