1) Mining sucks, so don't do it if you don't want to. 2) EVE begins when you get a cruiser - to me it sounds you never got that far?

May I suggest Earth and Beyond. You will see the entire game within a few minutes for what it is :)

If you say this is fun for you and you quit the game because its boring, you certainly havent given it too much time. I respect that though, for some people a game needs to give instant gratification, something which EVE does not.

Well, this game is obviously nothing for you
But why brag about it?
"Nothing to do" is a result of your impatience and/or lack of fantasy. I do hope its impatience, but TV has ruined a lot of peoples ability to use their imagination.. * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. To the rest, we are friendly and always prepared to help out. Peo |

"but i never see anyone battling all i ever see is mining"
Offcourse you havn't seen any battles, you've been in the newbie systems when people get attacked by the police when they try to fight. It's like walking around in the middle of London and complaining about not seeing people shooting eachother.
Start doing some agent missions. They're not that fun either, but you will get some money. Then buy a better ship and waste some pirates. Much more fun!
Give the game a try, play it at least until your free month is over. And find some nice corp, that's really what the game is all about :]
Btw you can't return the game as you've used the cd-key to create an account.

Edited by: Seer on 26/08/2003 15:11:56 How about joining a corp getting some help getting ya new ships helping ya corp mates eventually ending up in a battleship at a time your corp fell out with another corp and now there is a war and suddenly u find yaself gangwarping into a 12 v 12 battleship battle to the death with all your millions on the point of being blown until your corp mate saves you with a EW jam on their ship which allows you to escape with 2% hull left to lick your wounds repair your gear and vow vengeance simmering at work that you cant get home to go find the mofo and blowhim and his corp to kingdom come?
Would that grab ya attention?
Just a very small portion of the game if ya prepared to put in those 1st few lonely hours that you need in every MMORPG. It dont come free from the boring hours but it sure tastes sweeter when you get there

Once youve created an account, the CD key is forever linked to your account. The stores know this, so youd have a VERY hard time returning it unless you get a dope of a store clerk.
But what others have said is true.. give the game a chance. Youve barely scratched the surface of what you can do. If you dont want to mine, then go do some agent missions. They arent terribly fun but at least theres a little variety to them. Do that until you get a high end frigate or cruiser, then go do some hunting or something.
Eve is a game that takes a lot of work to really get full enjoyment out of it. You have to work at building up your characters skills. You have to work to make money (unless you get up at odark 30 in the morning to be online when server comes back up to be an uber trader but thats another story). Bottom line is it requires a bit of patience and doesnt offer instant gratification.

My advice is that you join a corp. But not mine, seems you expect things to just happen to you fast. Which makes you lazy.

Judging by your avatar, you are a Minmatar. Minmatar space is D-E-A-D, get away from it as soon as you can. Stay there just long enough to buy a Rifter (around 200k in Metropolis last I checked) and some guns and head for greener pastures. I'd reccomend the Eram system to start, the pirates there are very easy and don't come in large groups.
Yes, mining is boring. Even more boring if you are solo. Don't do it if you don't want to.

Ok, two suggestions:
1)Your wording was a subconscious cry for help, next time say: "the game seems boring, can someone help me enjoy it more?" this way you don't sound like an opinionated jackass but liek a person in need of assistance, someone we like helping a lot more.
2)Asking here is a waste of time(almost). Go to the corporation recruitment channel in game and have a corporation indoctrinate you, that way you will learn more than you can ever hope to learn alone. There are very nice people here and some of em have a LOT of time on their hands.
this game rocks, and it sucks, its just like life, basically it boils down to your outlook and your desire to have fun, and your ability to insert yourself in this very large universe.
