Use EVE's content lol. A ship change changes the entire game, lol.
No quality and for damn sure no quantity. lol
EVE players are a bunch of suckers. The devs give you a very bland sandbox, hinder it to keep what pacifist players it can hold on to, then sell you a sub. Then they state youre bored because YOU don't generate the content.
O and the devs cheat for certain players.
Suckers the lot of us.
At least Blizzard employees earn their subscription fees and success and they don't cheat on behalf of certain individuals. Can't say the same here. |

I'm not arguing that the changes they are making wont have an impact, I am just saying that they aren't making many changes. Subtle distinction to make but if you strain yourself you might manage it.
A great many of the changes that are being made are probably single SQL statements.

The balancing changes certainly are. CCP Should be making expansions of the same scale and development effort as their old expansions with the savy they are using now for small changes that make large impacts. Then we would have game changing expansions and everyone would be happy. Instead they are wasting massive amounts of development effort on stuff that we will either never use or care about.
Eve is literally dragging the weight of one dying FPS, two undeveloped games, and a mobile app that is more development time than it's worth. Those are literally some of the stupidest development decisions I have ever heard of a games company making. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

You do realize the hardest part of an expansion is not writing the code or making the new artwork or sounds.
It's in predicting and testing the impact of the changes. It's probably made even more difficult, not easier, by the fact that CCP reaches out to the community for feedback on specific proposals. They have the extra work of looking through player feedback (of which there will be hundreds of pages for any proposed expansion) and determining what has merit and what doesn't. A guy's car broke down, so he took it to the car mechanic.
"Sir, my car broke down. Can you fix it?" "Sure, let me take a look."
The mechanic opened up the car, examined the engine for ten minutes, then took out a hammer and hit it once. The guy sat in the car, started it up - and it was working again.
"Excellent, how much do I owe you?" "That would be $101." "$101 for one strike of a hammer?" "No, it's $1 for the strike. The $100 is for knowing where I needed to strike." |

If Dust514 was PC I'd be all over it. I tried the console stuff but I felt more familiar with the whole EVE nature/foundation that flavors Dust. It seemed to be to over the top for a console only game. Most of what I write in terms of posts and/or comments is meant as "tongue-in-cheek", i.e. part irony, part sarcasm but meant in good fun.

Anyone who's seen the warp speed comparison videos knows there will be a ton of content created by this patch after release by that alone, not even taking into account the modular POS stuff. But, like James said, they need to understand how content works in EVE.
In other (themepark) games, content is provided by the developers. They fashion a new dungeon, or warzone, or quests or faction or pandas, whatever. The players then explore and experience this new content and hopefully don't get bored with it before the next expansion. THey usually do, players play through content much faster than developers can design. code, and test it. SWTOR was in development for 8 years. First level 50 was about 2 weeks after launch, for a grand total of 4 months work of content.
In EVE, content of this nature is fairly uncommon, and usually receive a lukewarm response at best. Examples would be Incursions, factional warfare, and Incarna. The first two are pretty much utilized more for the ISK than because players enjoy the activities (there are exceptions for factional warfare of course, but the vast majority are farmers). The last...well, people remember the community response to that. Suffice it to say, this kind of "content" doesn't jive well with EVE.
Now, in a sandbox game, content is provided by the players, not the developers. You're not riding a rollercoaster that someone else built, you're making a sand castle. Or maybe you're tearing it down. Or you're burying some treasure, or finding it, or looking for shells, or playing volleyball, or...you get the idea.
In game terms, this means that the developers hand us the tools to create content, and say "Go forth and work wonders." CCP doesn't build a superfaction that controls vast swaths of 0.0, they let they players do that and create things like titans, jump bridges, and player made stations to facilitate this. They don't just add new ships that do X% more damage but require X more skillpoints, they make sure each ship has a purpose in the meta. Then they add things like the depots and siphons that suddenly open up new options. Now you've the ability for some small homeless null entities to jet around 0.0, using depots to refit to meet different doctrines, and dropping/checking siphons to make some ISK. If they use small frigates, they just got a LOT harder to catch.
It's an amazing amount of potential, but like any other good EVE expansion, the content will be provi |

You know, for me this is what EvE is supposed to be about. Everyone is hard at work theorycrafting all of these new camps and tactics... when I started playing that's just how the game always was. For the last few years I've known every camp and seen pretty much every trick pulled. You always know pretty much what people are up to and what to expect. Boredom does weird things to pods... the other night I lost a Nighthawk faction fit outside of Jita 4-4 because I had a few to drink and just thought "f it, I'll shoot that random guy there and see how long I can tank the locals" (answer: longer than I thought, but not that long). Now, here we are, with things having changed SO much that you won't be able to assume anything for a long time. It brings back the fun... for me anyway.

I am looking forward to the tears of anguish from people who think that Interceptors are now immune to gate camps.
A very nice expansion with a bunch of very exciting new features. I wonder how many more ships CCP can add to the game before we start complaining about new ships no longer being compelling content?
Remember folks, in a sandbox game the content is you!
Anyone who thinks Blizzard is doing expansions "properly" clearly hasn't examined the complete trivialisation of levelling content, or experienced the entry barrier to raiding thanks to the extreme mudflation of raid level gear.
