I was curious how difficult this mission was? I've done the level 2 version, and got the level 4 version last night for 1.2 mil + 1 mil bonus. I just recently jumped in a Prophecy from a Maller. Basically, just looking for tips and a heads of of what to expect?

I find the drone missions in level 4 to be near impossible. I've had my apoc up with 2 large rep 2's and 4 hardeners and was almost in my pod within 2 minutes.

I don't have any problem doing drone harassment in my megathron.
1st room is easy - kite and gank. 'nuff said.
2nd room is tougher - approx 10 drones start around 20k and are on you immediately. lots of damage (tank 2x kinetic 2x thermal handles it for me, with a T2 LAR). dual-web and blaster-them, while hoping my tank holds out until the magic point where damage < repair. No scrambler or web, so as long as you're aligned and ready, you can warp out (have only had to first couple times I did this, last 5 or so I handled it in one pass, and have varied between blasters to see which works best, but have been able to do it with all 3 types).

I used to hate, hate, hate doing rogue-drone missions. Then I started running kin-therm-therm-expl-EM armor hardeners. Now, I find them pretty easy.

use all hardeners - I do them in a domi quite easy and use in lows
2 TII large reps
1 therm TII hardener
1 expl TII hardener
1 kin TII hardener
2 adaptive nano IIs
tank holds quite easily and I guess this would port to most armour tankers

Did this mission in my Raven over weekend and it was a doddle got 80k away from drones opened fire with my torps 2 torps per drone, took out the complete swarm before they got in shooting range on me I didnt even need to activate my shield hardners. Bear in mind though that i have all advanced missile skills at lvl 5.

Level 4 Rogue Drone Harassment probably has the best LP/difficulty ratio I've seen. It's insanely easy, if you fit your ship correctly.
I use a Raven equipped for speed (five local hull nanofibers), and only a handful of the drones can get within firing range. Pick them off with missiles or your own drones, and the whole thing is over in 15-20 minutes.
Probably the only mission I look forward to more is Infested Outposts, and that's only because of the insane zydrine salvage.

Correct.....
They also made the 2nd room a lot easier now. I didn't even have to boost my raven tank last time i did it.
The first level you can clear in a totaly unprotected ship dmg stacked, im tempted to try the 2nd level the same now.. solo style...
Close call on the fastest mission though you have it correctly setup . vengance can be done in 20...

The key is to do whatever you have to with your build to ensure you keep them at more than 20 km away. If you can do that, the mission is trivial.
If you want to close with them then you need to maximize your defensive capabilities as they swarm you and do a bunch of damage sub 20km.
I am caldari so I go ranged :)

Doing all rogue drone missions in a Tempest, and it takes MUCH longer to collect the loot in my indie afterwards than killing the drones...
Probably the easiest lvl4 missions if you got the tools to stay at range.

its easier then a number of level 3 missions i use the muninn fitted with 4 720 howies, 1 standard launcher, 2 assaults, 10mn ab 1 tracking comp and a medium shield booster then lows are 3 t2 gyros and then tracking mods and pdu mix as needed to fit i rarely get hit and i kill them fast enough
make sure you loot i got 25mil+ in minerals last time i did 1

it is easy... i managed to do it in 16 minutes, without even getting in armor , and i dont shield tank. I use a close range setup. is all about good setup

Just curious. What kind of loot (aside from sometimes finding a rare item) can you find in containers in the lvl 4 drone complex? I know 2/10 has 5th and 7th tiers which I've been making most of my money off of. Also, it was said that if you can kite @ 20k+ then its simple. Can a Caracal do this ok?

They are not discussing a complex here. They are discussing a mission. I have never done a level 4 drone complex so I cannot be much help there.

I hooked up with a RL friend of mine who has been playing eve for 15m SP worth of time, he never did any missions so had no level4 agent available to him. I on the other hand, new in the game has done a ****load for Sarum family. So we hooked up and started doing them today second one we got was this one.. Reading about it here gave me the shakes when he said he had to replace the second T2 large repper with a medium T2 or the tank wouldnt last infinite.
Then we started it, he using 1 hardner of therm, kin, and explosive, he had to fit a resist plate for the EM since we didnt buy any of those hardeners (out of cash haha).
A min in or so when he had drones all over him at 15km or so, he asks me how much damage Im taking.. I say none.. theyre all shooting at you.. His tank didnt even register that he had 10drones of various names orbiting him at 10-20km. Either our drones had peashooters or he is as badass as I think he is. I still cant belive he went afk in the fight cause he thought it was "boring".
They'd eaten my apoc alive for sure, but his domi just kept ticking =) Awesome start on the level 4's. Oh.. I had to get it outa my system, sorry.

I did the Level 4 version of this mission without any problem at all. I was in a Scorpion with:
4 x Cruise Launcher IIs (With standard Kinetic Missiles loaded)
1 x Large Smartbomb
1 x X-Large Shield Booster II
1 x Invulnerability Field II
1 x GS Shield Boost Amplifier (37.5%)
1 x Shield Boost Amplifier I (30%)
4 x Cap Recharger IIs
4 x Power Diagnostic System IIs
Basically I could switch on the Shield Booster (1040 every 5 seconds) and the Invulnerability Field, then forget about them. Made the mission very easy. Just picked off the drones one by one, even in the second area.

I wouldn't worry about this mission at all. I just solo'd it in a Thorax with just two 250mm rails.
I used the old kite technique, keep at range 35km (optimum range for my guns as well as my max drone targetting distance (I'm still a relative newb, only 4.5mil SP in total)) and launched 5 med drones at them. If you aggro a group at a time, keep out of their range (only one or two drones have a range greater than 35km) and slowly pick them off you'll have no problems.
Admittedly it took me a couple of hours but still, 2mil in my pocket and 1500 LP for my troubles.

It's been ages ago since I did these missions, so I don't know how much changed, but back when I did them, they were very much doable with 2-3 assault frigs. (Alone you basically can't break the tank on the Supreme Drone Parasites.)
Really. Fit an AB, and you'll be surprised how few of the higher drones can still hit you. Just don't get stuck on a structure. That stings.
Just be prepared to take some time.^^'
Did the drone outpost one with three people. We had to split, but ~20M ISK in minerals + rewards is not bad at all.

back in the lv3's id get a ferox with smart bombs, have med hybrid with iron to snipe 1 guy from every group, bring them all over and have it done with in a minute or 2. Now, with this lvl4 version, im flyin a raven and with 2m SP i had only a slight leak in my shield/cap balancing act with the second stage. Nothing killing them off fast wouldnt fix.

Is the general consensus to fit short range guns on these L4 drone missions? I live in 0.0 mostly and rarely get to do missions. I have gallente BS5 with maxed out gunnery skills (large spec 4) and perfect cap and armour tanking skills. Drone skills are fairly good too and I mostly fly a mega. I assume that's enough to solo them?
Any dedicated mega pilots soloing L4's easily? If so, what missions for rails and what for blasters?
