I think freshly-bought blueprints show that (like they're still "packaged"). Once you've used them (research or build), they're "assembled", and are treated like a normal blueprint.

I've seen this with "hauler" type-spawns. Once you kill the "escort" (non-haulers), the haulers will start jumping around every 10 seconds or so. Takes forever to take them down without a fast locking ship with good range.
