Stupid ******* christians need to shut the hell up then with their crying about that its wrong for a man to love a man and a woman to love a woman.. That happened in real life. that's why I say some of you are tooooo close to this game. CCP is not a government that owes you rights or equality or fairness. It's a business you enter into a business relation ship with for entertainment purposes. We choose to enter into the business relationship, and the entertainment depends on, CCP staying within specified bounds when it comes to interfering in the game. I have no interest in paying to compete against alliances being gifted t2 bpos again. |

Basically "ccp doesn't have to do anything!!!" is a dumb argument because yes, they do, if they'd like people to continue giving them money. CCP is much better off when people communicate clearly what causes them to stop doing that, and people are better off as well. |

Prince Kobol wrote: As much as I have been against CCP's recent escapades, I have not and will not compare it to the T20 incident as it is no where near as bad.
To compare the two incidents is actually quite silly.
I don't really agree: Navigator gave two massive gifts to SOMER for no real apparent reason. The explanations that have been offered are transparently nonsense and I'm pretty much left with "SOMER are Navigator's buddies and he just gave them things because they're his buddies". SOMER isn't a fansite, it's an in-game business. And worst of all, it appears that there was no real oversight of this process and the CSM was cut out entirely when the entire reason the CSM was made was to oversee dumb things like this.
This sort of thing needs to be stepped on, hard. It's fortunate that it was not a nullsec alliance. However the value of the things given to SOMER well exceeds the value of the things T20 gave to BOB (even adjusting for inflation). It's the same scandal, it's just that we've lucked out at having a recipient of the random dev largesse that doesn't affect nullsec as much. |

Jenn aSide wrote: That's why I think the t2o comparison is basically false. Handing some rare but inferior scorps to Somer (an organization with so much isk that 450 bil more doesn't matter) isn't giving them a competitive advantage in anything. in short, i don't see it compromising anything important in the game..
I've also noticed an "anti-capitalist" thing going on in this community reaction to. Some people say somer should get things like that because they do their website for "profit" instead of altruistic reasons. I can't agree with that, imo doing some good is doing some good no matter if you get something for it or not. That's why we pay police officers and firefighters in real life.
The only way to value things in this game is isk. If you give me 30 rare but useless ships and I can turn them easily into 450b, it does not matter that you gave me useless ships because I can trivially convert them into a sabre bpo or sevral titans. More to the point that 450b was the smaller gift they were given. And I'm not even counting Navigator's Officially Not A Scam declaration as a gift.
As for the "anti-capitalist" thing: the supposed explanation is to encourage fansites. A massively profitable in-game business is not a fansite. Goonfleet.com is much, much more of a fansite. Fansites need encouragement because they're not profitable, they're a labor of love. SOMER is a labor of getting lots of isk and (legally) converting that isk into dollars. If you were going to encourage fansites there's lots. You wouldn't say "well what fansite should we promote and encourage with a multi-trillion gift" (note: even if SOMER legitimately raffles off their raffle gifts they got a massive boost in bets and betting income, on the order of 2-4x their typical volume which translated directly into more money) and come up with SOMER. That's why it matters SOMER is an in-game business: because it torpedoes the supposed reason for their massive gifts. |

Prince Kobol wrote: As for the value aspect.. are you seriously trying to compare a few ships (even worth of potential 450bil) which once are sold are gone for good to a number of T2 BPO's which in turn are able to create a virtually unlimited amount items of which were incredibly rare then as long as all the information that was given?
Yes, because I can purchase a T2 BPO (and of the ones given to BoB only the Sabre one was any good I believe) for money. So I can easily compare 450b to a bunch of T2 bpos.
And again, the scorpions were the smaller gift. |

Damned thing took forever to type. I noticed. I blame the illuminati. Damned conspiracies! Sorry about that. Your post probably got deleted as it was a reply to a post that was deleted for breaking the forum rules. And no, CCL is not part off the illustrious Illuminati, so it is not a conspiracy either. That said, I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay. Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil! As the topic is a series of gripes people have with CCP, perhaps it would be best not to hide comments of people elaborating on their issues with CCP and specific actions CCP has taken, as those don't fall under any of the rules you just quoted. I'm quite peeved at the actions CCP took here, and you deleting my and other's description of why is ... counterproductive ... in a thread that's been started to try and have a discussion with the community on the issue. |
