whats up with them. I send them out then recall to dronebay they will sit about 2.3Km from the ship and not move, I have to go to them and keep trying. this happens even if my ship is completely stopped.
Anyone having these issues? Dont just complain, do something. Channel macrointel meet with likeminded folks, spottings, intel |

I specifically have to tell them to orbit, then dock.
Although I noticed that the drones tend to lose IQ when they're in a group of 5. I had 4 drones for the longest time (kept forgetting to buy a new one) and they obeyed without question.
Odd.

oh yes, drones are just as badly behaved as always. I guess one day CCP may get around to fixing them but I wouldn't hold your breath

Same here, any other way and they just get "stuck".

Seems like either lag or some kind of corruption. There are times when I'm mining with my corp and I'll see a member's drone stuck in my Bantam. Weird.

Edited by: Kilpelainen on 25/01/2006 16:12:00 My heavy drones work just fine (not that they would mwd in my drone bay but atleast they move) but warriors, god damn they are slow when I call them back to bay. I can outrun them with domi.

currently to fix all drone problems create a gang with someone, then have that person leave gang. Your drones will act SMART. when they finish a kill, they will sit there like passive little people until you activate a combat module (high slot) on a target. then they will make fastest speed to that target. or they will wait for your orders. after 10 seconds of no orders, they return and orbit. only if THEY are aggressed will they go after a ship, and then when that ship is gone....idle again for 10 seconds then auto-return to orbit without command.

i want a "rampage tool", they just go for ur active target, then just all swarm the closest target each time they kill something =)

"Drones are still stupid"
Of course they are, which is why they are called DRONES.
You must rule them with an IRON HAND and bully them around.

Yea, except commanding drones with an iron hand doesn't work at all, since appearantly drones are too dumb to execute small but reasonable things such as "don't go to orbit speed and start shooting untill in range" You can command them all you want, as long as they execute your commands in such a half assed way...
Seriously, I want a device that shocks the Dev teams balls every time a drone decides to do that. Also every time it atacks a target that is 40km away instead of one that is acctually atacking your ship.
It would shock them twice every time a drone atacks a target that is 40km away, and goes to orbit speed and shoots immediatly so that you can't even give it other orders before the enemy aggroes you.

Talking of stupid drones....am I missing something? or is there some trick to having my repair drones actually repair me.....
It seems they need an active target in order to do anything other than amble around in space, even if I'm getting slaughtered there beside them.

Repair drones don't work on yourself, you need to have a target, and you can't target yourself.
Drones have been dumb for a while now, and probably will be for a while. It doesn't seem to be a priority right now for CCP to fix their product.

ok....thanks
I remember asking when I was getting the repair skills/drones in place "I wonder how you target yourself.." but I assumed it would be clear in the actual drone menu or at the very least a default setting that the drones would repair their mother ship unless specifically targetted elsewhere.
I guess not
I also guess its a pretty useless skill/addition for anyone off doing anything solo.

Yep, they're hideously slow. I lost a battleship tonight because it took my drones so long to get to the rats (0.0 belt ratting) that i was at half armor by the time they started doing damage to 1 of the 3 900k battleships in the spawn. Once I ran out of cap i tried to warp and found out i was scrambled. So i tried to call my drones back (shoulda been plenty of time ffs, they were only 23k away from me) to pop the frigs... no joy =/
please CCP fix the drones, i worked and saved and trained for 3 months to finally get into a domi which is now looking useless.

In a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, I would hazard the guess that they were never intended as a solo tool ...
And yes, I'm a "solo player" too ...

When playing solo, repair drones can be used on your own drones, there is therefore some use to them.
Back on original topic, I see the same issues with drone control.
Most of the time I try to ensure I have a gang (even with no other members) to get around the auto aggro behaviour.
Unfortunately the gang trick doesnt fix the 'shoot at target 40km away' or 'fly to target 40km at orbit speed' or even the 'orbit target with MWD on' behaviours. --
