Hello I am a relative newbie to the game (about 2 weeks) and have been learning about the various features and how they worked. Latest thing I have I have been picking up was the Scanner. I've been reading the posts on how pirates/anti pirates use it to pinpoint your location.
Now as I was practicing the Technique while looking at a Jump gate I noticed that the scanner had picked up an "uncharted" asteroid field. What caught my eye was the presence of Omber. (in .8 system). Needless to say I was excited...and I am not a miner mind you but I have a Bantam tucked away for just such an event. But I can find no way to get to the Field. Its seems to be in some indeterminate spot between the station and the gate.
there also seem to be a squadron of Thukkar elites in the same vicinity (Coincidence?) and a Beacon but nothing else and nothing to lock on to. I've even tried stopping in Midwarp but still nothing.
So what are these and is there any way to get there?

it's possible it's a mission complex you're seeing. Sometims they will have roids to mine in them.

with a beacon and NPCs, i;d say thats a mission. Are there acceleration gates too?

No No Gates thats WhatI though was wierd.. Oh well I guess that omber will have to wait...

Not all mission spawns have gates tho. Only the dead space ones.

I'll lay dollars to donuts that you picked up someone doing Technological Secrets (1 of 3), this is a mission with no gates, Thukker Elite frigates, and several asteroids, one or two of which are Ombre

Waaait a minute. I have never checked the roids. Hmm. I'll take mining lasers on my next mission

I see in another post someone mentioned hiddend Roid Belts and how you can get to them with MWD/AB Time to Bust out the Condor!
