Why? Because you have to first lock the target, then tell them to engage - IF that works, then you also have enough control of your client to have your drones IN your dronebay, so you can deploy them. If you do not, then wtf is teh point in having them out anyway?
Drones auto-agress on nearest agressor if they are out when you are engaged. Try it out yourself with a corpmate.
With that much lag, how can we lock you? The way I see it, you deploy those you're not doing it to auto-aggress (thanks for the tip though, I'll test it tomorrow) you're doing it to prevent us from engaging you.
If you can understand why one side views another, that has superior numbers AND uses such tactics, with disdain and a lack of respect, then you are going a long way to understanding why many in BoB feel the way they do about so many other groups in the game.

well hows about this we can sit here going back and forth till this thread reaches 50 some odd pages, in the end it wont solve anything we still gonna argue over what tactics and strategy the other side uses
so how bout we jus agree to disagree because thats about the only thing we will be able to agree on

I believe I've already suggested that.

"Drones auto-agress on nearest agressor if they are out when you are engaged."
It's this very auto-agression thing though, that makes the drones weak defense in lag soup:
* long range sniper ship fires at drone owner * drones auto-aggro and head for the attacked 100+ km away (they don't seem to care about distance while doing that) * regular tackler crew swoops in, completely ignored by drones which are happy to already have target * by the time the drone owner gets update in the lag, drones are already past the control range and cannot be redirected on actual threat * owner goes boom, drones go limp while still enroute. end result: just more lag for all involved
In all fairness yes, deploying the drones can appear useful and it was my guess that's the actual reason why you had them out... but overall it's probably better for all involved to keep them in the drone bay until really needed. (or switch to something more practical like the sentry drones which can be actually utilized to shoot the pos, i think)

They can and do attack POSes. 5 Gardes for instance will add about 216 dps to a megathron or armagedon's sustained bombardment. A Dominix or Ishtar would get 324dps out of the same 5 drones. These little guys also do not need to be reloaded so don't miss around 30 seconds to reload (stupid lag) and can keep firing until downtime.
Of course theres no real way to confirm whether Gardes are actually dealing damage against a tower, but the little green "Attacking" thing and the graphics is enough to convince me...
And then theres bouncers... Ever seen a sniping Ishtar?
(wait a second. this isn't ships and modules!)

Hmmmm...
VC/IMP have disagreed with BoB tactics in the past... Now BoB disagrees with VC/IMP tactics in the present
VC/IMP complains came during the taking down of POS's... BoB complains came during the taking of a POS
VC/IMP were greatly overpowered during these attacks for which complains circled around... BoB was greatly overpowered for the instance in question
VC/IMP were using questionable exploits during attack... BoB was using questionable exploits during attacks
OMG!! The Irony
Makes you really wonder about that "What goes around comes around" thing... don't it?
