I went and bought 1024mb duel ram due to ram leaks in eve... now it randomly starts eating way over 600 mb of ram increasing 2 mb a sec.
This never happend before RMR and I don't know why CCP isn't fixing this. Lot's of other people have the same prob. I've disabled every prog running in background, but eve just uses up too much ram
I had to reboot at 670 mb as system was totally unresponsive. Can we have an update on this CCP please.
I shouldn't need 4 gig of ram to play game for a few hours.

Doesn't happen to me. I play EVE all the time with 1 GB of memory, no problems.

I have noticed similar behavior with my Eve client but only after it has been running for a significant amount of time (10+ hours). Still, it does appear to have surfaced in RMR as I did not experience anything like it before the patch.
I haven't experienced a system lockup though. Simply closing down the Eve client and relaunching fixes it right up for me.

Doesn't happen to me... doesn't help on this matter.
It happens to a lot of people, and it never used to happen before update. I could run 2 accounts on this pc, now I run out of ram running 1.
Corsair 2 x 512mb cas 2 ddr athlon 64 3500 ati radeon 9800xt win xp
it starts at 130mb then creeps up to 670mb then locks.

Just a quick fyi from the reading on 'memory leaks' department:
Those using .net AND the ATI catalyst control center........ the .net framework (version 1.x) has leakage issues. This MIGHT be where your 'leaks' are coming from. On the nvidia side, seeing no leaks in EVE. -just a possibility, yer mileage may vary.

I stopped using catalyst drivers and am using omega drivers for ati... maybe I should uninstall .net framework

Edited by: Sam Spacey on 27/01/2006 08:40:22 I did get more ram.... read above..... more ram just means more time till it locks up.
A memory leak doesn't stop because you got more ram, it just means it takes a bit longer before it runs out. And dual core would make no difference either.

I have 1gb of 2.5CL ddr and on a single client i have no issues, i have the .net framework installed but i am not using those devilspawn ATI thingymabobbers, i have no uissues and i can even run 2 accounts without issues, granted i do play in windowed mode and i remember reading somewhere the minimizing the client every now and then keeps its memory using down low so i have no isses whatsoever.

Nope, it doens't... Dual-core has nothing to do with memory in this matter. It will help if you're running two accounts at the same time, not when only running one. _

Its a known issue.. After 2-3 hours of playing eve with 1-2 accounts, my ram usage is extreme..
My specs: 3,2Ghz P4 (800fsb) 1 Gb dual Pc 4200 2-3-3-7 Nvidia 6800GT Ultra
I usually Reboot or Re-log when lag/long loading times and so on starts.
Hope they fix it soon.

K this is what you do:
Go to control panel Then go to System Then in the System window, you go to the Advanced tab Now, in the Avanced window, look under Performance and press Settings In the Performance Options window, make sure you are in the Advanced tab Then click the Change button in the Virtual Memory My virtual memory max size is at 4096 mb, this means that XP uses 4 GB of your harddisk space as virtual memory, which means less load on the RAM.
These settings are only recommened for those with 1 Gig or less RAM. If you have 2 gig or more of DDR2 RAM, then it should be at 0 mb to increase performance of the computer.
This should fix the memory leaks, has for me.

"memory leak"
It better use my 2GB, would be a waste if it never gets used.

Not sure about less load on the RAM .. more like - when I've run out of RAM write to disk.

I build pc's for recording studio's... and audio performance is greatly improved if there is enough ram for the pc not to have to keep juggling between the ram and hard drive. A bigger page file is not a solution really.

I noticed this. If you run Eve in windowed mode and minimise it occasionally, then the memory usage seems to drop to about 25mb.

Saying "I'm allright" is like going on a forum for a terminal illness and saying "I don't have that problem".
It doesn't contribute or help.
It seems I have net 1.1 installed, so I will uninstall and see if that helps. Cheers for info however mentioned that.

I'd like to mention that I was having the same problems and my PC uses NVIDIA drives. It got fixed after installing .net version 2.0.

Disable always all of those "control center" applications. If you see anything besides the clock in your system tray, you have set up your windows wrong..

It has nothing to do with .NET or something why should it..eve uses no .NET
There is definitely a memory-leak and an increased cpu-usage. The lag comes from both..so i hope they fix that soon

There is no bugs in eve - just undesired game features :-)
BUT and this is a BIG BUT there is a memory leak and what is casueing it no 1 is sure so file a bug report and send the logs so ccp can see if they can fix it - untill then - restart eve when it gets to about 500mb and it should be fine
HMMMMMMMM the end ? i think not |

Edited by: Elaron on 27/01/2006 13:33:39 It's probably an interaction between EVE and specific driver versions on your systems, as we're seeing quite a wide variation of system specs that are both suffering and not suffering from the memory leak.
What we need, really, is a standardised statement of system specification along with a statement of whether leak is suffered or not, which will hopefully allow us to track down common factors.
I suggest the following:
CPU make, speed Amount of memory (we don't need speed or make) Operating system version & service pack DirectX version Video card chipset make and model (specific manufacturer not needed), memory amount and connection (AGP or PCI-E) Video card driver version Sound card Sound card driver .net installed, version Whether EVE is run full screen or windowed Whether memory leak is suffered or not.
So for me it is: Intel Pentium IV 3.2GHz 2GB memory Windows XP Service Pack 2 DirectX 9c nVidia GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP ForceWare 81.98 SB Live! Current SB Live! driver from Creative's website .net 1.1 SP1 EVE run in windowed mode No memory leak suffered.

Technically, the Eve client doesnt use .net, but if you'll look around, all the current GFX drivers (well, ATI ones at least) actually use the .net framework, and as they are used when you play eve, that could be a cause. But due to people still having problems all over the shop anyway, I really doubt it's that now.

This happened to me last night, the game started to lag and my harddrive started sounding like it was having a heart attack.
When I looked at the system status the game was using over 660MB of RAM :o __________________________________________________ "Dont put all your egg in one basket" "Why?" "Because someone might be just annoying enough to blow it up" |

The problem isn't the ammount of RAM, it's that when it starts leaking the game quits working... it kind of lags out.
Lost a ship to this a few days ago, first time it's been so bad, but I almost lost a faction fitted raven too it too, managed to log back in with 15% hull, then got warped back to where I nearly died, fun...
Even if you close eve with the task manager (as it's unresponsive, just munchign away) it keeps muching for a few minutes, not letting you start any new programs or EVE again, to log back in, and it's quite frustrating. ------------

...actually .net in the ATI drivers is only needed for the CCC wich is a crappy thing.
ATT is better and doesn't require .net
edit: ATT to the ones that don't have omega drivers installed ----------------
