We all have read the back stories of EVE one time or another, but they are just that.
Stories of things past or events explaining one thing or another, but what about ledgends?. In RL we have the lost dutchmans mine, the flying dutchman, old ship wreaks loaded with tresure. Ledgends told time and time again, by the camp fire or sitting at home with friends.
Tales told to scare and teach us moral, like peter and the wolfs.
Or stories of unknown stealing your kidney, all ledgends ment to give you that deleightful shiver up your spine. But where are they?, i have'nt seen one such story in EVE..

But i still would like more, when we have such a deep univers to dig into.

Tank CEO is very much a living legend.
There is of course to legend of Moo's (i think its Moo) First CEO who worked for the FBI or NSA and left EVE to spend more time with her children.
But once she vanished everything collapsed in the "alliance".

If you are also talking about legendary and feared players, then blobbing works against this.
If someone with outstanding knowledge of the game and player skill could kill a bunch of average people and did that on a regular basis, he might become a legend.
But guess then they would blob kill him again and again and after some time he had enough of loosing his stuff this way, would join a big corp or alliance, usually fly in big gangs himself, become part of a blob, one out of many and his fame would fade.

Hmm maby i should think up some ledgends, it could spice up the environment a little . As for ledgendary players, it would be fun to read some stuff about them too actually..

Lord Zap, the same Lord Zap that stirs fear into the bravest of n00bs at the simple whisper of his name. Some n00bs simply wouldn't even think of uttering the name, Lord Zap.
The legend of Lord Zap spread to the futherest reaches of the known universe. The stories daddies tell their *****es. Roid fields filled with the corpses of captured miners. The star gates littered with travelers from distant lands, frozen in the colds of space.
A story of one such incident lie in the Serpentis Prime system a few au from the YZ gate. A happily smack talking local smacktard is ofc smaking in local. In his mind his safe spot is very secure.
Wedged between two planets his ship sits idle, powered down with minimal systems online. When suddenly Lord Zap appears. Approaching at 2300km a sec Lord Zap locks his prey down. His prey (whom will refer to as tard) feeling overwhelmed, attempts to warp out and finds his ship losing armor and warp scrambled. Tard has only a few seconds to decide his final actions and hits eject in an attempt to save his life.
Not realizing that death now would be much better then what the Legendary Lord Zap has instore. Realizing this scenario already, "being trained by the Great Caldari Bosses has its advantages" Lord Zap has a pod scrambler already waiting for his unknowing victim. Begging for mercy Tards screams are heard on the local coms. News runners say locals tell a horror story of amniotic fluid being removed from the pod and acid being injected. By the time Serpentis officials arrived the pod was frozen, but later investigations showed the acid slowly killed Tard over a 45 minute period.

The great thing is that this game creates it's own legends. I'm relatively new, though have heard some remarkable achievements allready by some of the pilots/corporations.
To bad I'm still categorised as a Smurf on the EVE-legend-scale  .

Lord Zap got once killed due to bad standings... he then proceeded to bump the entire 20 man gang to death and then molested the corpses... ebil I tell ya!!!
Let's not forget the the Yulai massacre nearly 2 years ago, alot of good concord pilots died that day trying to stop Zombie Inc

My only "accomplishment" is only to have lost a few cheap ships and never to have been killed.

yeah the "great scam" is nice, but Morbor's story was the best scam ever, well til what Istavaan did to mine
Morbors was posted on Eve-i's forums, since then I don't know where an "original" copy of it is.
There have also been some in-game events that are starting to become "legend" as fact is lost. The Jove fleet in SA that was protected by Oracle, Doc Brown and the Guristas... alot others but I really don't remember the specifics atm

If Rana Ash is talking about CCP-generated prime fictional legends then I would agree that yes, there are some but we could stand to have more.
However, I think the problem that both Rana and this thread have pointed out, is that while there are certainly many player-generated legend-worthy things in the world of EVE, the bottom line is the majority of players don't know they exist.
The problem, is that there is no reliable news system that gets much of this info to players through in-game means. Basically, you have to be there or know someone who was, or CONSTANTLY read the forums. But as was pointed out by zergrush and others, the forums are basically a world unto themselves and aren't an acurate representation of the world of EVE. NO worthwhile info should be found in the forums only as so much of it currently is.
What we need to fix this is an easier, better, more appropriately organized news system that doesn't just rely on the few brave volunteers who must jump through several hoops to get something posted.
