Awesome information -- thank you! Where do I find the first 3 issues?
p.s. Small suggestion: Making some of the page graphics/background more transparent would improve readability. |

Really informative again. But due to colours and fonts chosen, this one is somewhat difficult to read most of the time and a pain for my eyes. Remove insurance. |

I'll have to agree. The content is impeccable, as always, but I really did prefer the style used on the previous issue. Great work, regardless. |

pretty good read thus far (I haven't finished yet).
However, I did notice an error in the "One Man Industrial Corp" section:
Quote:...and if you plan to invent tier 2 (T2) blueprints... (first column, third paragraph)
Your publication seems geared more toward people who are newer ... so that'll probably cause additional confusion if they're looking to get in on T2 things (which is bad enough as it is). One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Thanks for your comments. I will, when I get a moment, adjust some things to make it easier to read. The last issue was designed and assembled by a former alliance member. She has been really busy IRL and I wanted to make sure I got the issue out this month. I rolled up my sleeves and dived head-first.
Not that I am trying to make an excuse, but I don't have any training (formal or informal) in advertising or desktop publishing and I began using InDesign by Adobe last Thursday, so in about 5 days, I learned a bunch about the program by clicking and erroring. I expect things to get better as I learn more about the program and learn from your comments on what works and what doesn't.
Thanks again! If at first you don't succeed, skydiving was not for you. Check out the Industrialist, a monthy industrial news letter. October 2013 Issue:-á http://bit.ly/17EC85p |

I still say its an awful design, colors and text.. Text is everywhere, them quotes still sitting in the middle of the text look silly.
The 7th page where the Heron is, why is the heron so pixelated?
Page 5 font is different to page 6, and page 6 is different than page 7. Why don't you keep the same font??. Or at least make it readable.
Since when does T2 mean Tier 2?? Its Tech 2(II) |

I will tackle each issue in kind:
Wafflehead wrote:I still say its an awful design, colors and text.. Text is everywhere, them quotes still sitting in the middle of the text look silly. This is a matter of opinion and while I really can't change your mind, I can & will make every attempt to make future issues flow better, but I wanted to get this issue out in October and setbacks forced my hand.
Wafflehead wrote: The 7th page where the Heron is, why is the heron so pixelated?
Most of my editing is done while at work on my breaks. I don't have any imaging software on my computer there and I haven't been able to locate my Photoshop cd's at home.
Wafflehead wrote: Page 5 font is different to page 6, and page 6 is different than page 7. Why don't you keep the same font??. Or at least make it readable.
Yeah, I imported some pages from last month's issue and I have a font issue. I think it is because I am using the trial version of the software. I haven't looked into importing fonts. I believe one page was Arial and the other was Arial Narrow. I don't think I have Arial Narrow on my work computer. Not a big deal. I changed them all to Arial.
Wafflehead wrote: Since when does T2 mean Tier 2?? Its Tech 2(II)
It doesn't. When you intend to shorthand something that will be reused later in the text, at the first appearance of the longhand, you put the shorthand in ( ). It just happens that T2 and Tier 2 shorthand were the same. I went through and changed it all so that it is less confusing.
Thanks for pointing out the things that you noticed. As I said, as far as the colors and designs, You are in the minority, but I appreciate your comments.

Nice content. Layouts and those pictures could use some more tuning. Makes text hard to read at times.

I didn't have any trouble reading it. Prices for a lot of PI materials of all grades are starting to go through the roof now as people prepare to get involved in building of POCOs for high sec in November. Printed news can go out of date very quickly.
Regarding one man industrialist I think a lot of the professional industrialists will be one man corps due to the way corporation roles & permissions work. The sooner CCP fixes this the better. I would much rather CCP put months of work into fixing that than continue this continual 'rebalancing' of ships that give variable results at best and wreck ship production for months or longer.
You did touch on it in this issue but maybe a page could be devoted the 'MIMAF' (Minerals I Mine Are free.) argument/principle in your next issue. It still amazes me that some people still don't understand that MIMAF is an incorrect way to run an industrial career. The prices of minerals are largely still crashing due to a number of factors but MIMAF and people selling minerals at ridiculously low prices isn't helping the issue. Just my fourpenneth. |

Thank you for your hard efforts producing this fine material. In manufacturing we need to be ever vigilant in order to remain profitable in a cutthroat market. Lucky for me some newbro's have not figured out that time is money.
My only suggestion as with others is to make a printer friendly version.
Kind regards,

Unfortunately, it just takes too long for me to publish the newsletter monthly. I am considering doing it quarterly though.
I have started a blog called (you guessed it), the Industrialist.

I love the idea of a magazine like thing about industry in EVE but seriously, what is up with the horrible layout and graphic design? The only thing missing is Comic Sans. Surely you can find someone to make this much more appealing to the eye? My YouTube Channel - EVE Tutorials & other game related things! |

Comic Sans..lol. That was pretty good.
To be fair, a lot of people really liked the layout. You are in the minority. Publication design is not something I went to school for or really even considered doing. It was on a whim so there are bound to be things that clash or look amateurish. No doubt. I would rather the content be the more important factor. But as I said, I really don't have the time to do it monthly anyway. So your point may be moot as I haven't decided if I will even do it quarterly. If I do decide to continue, maybe you would be receptive to me bouncing ideas off you. I would appreciate the input.
Anyway, check out my blog and please feel free to leave comments.

Added a new blog about mining barges and yields. I think it would be helpful for newer players to check it out. If you run an indy corp, this will show your newer miners what they can expect. Note that I filled the lows with MLU2 to keep the test consistent. These ships have NO tank fitted.
