Looking at the "school of hard knocks" logo (sorry to use you guys as an example) , I can see blatantly a pentagram / pentalpha ( whatever you want to call them ).
This is a neopagan / wiccan and also sometimes a satanist symbol.
Now, I think this shouldn't be in the game, what does everyone else think? ---

I guess you only care about that if you are religious in any way.
I am not, so I dont really care, its just another symbol.

Quote:
Pentagram From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Jump to: navigation, search This article is about the geometric design. For other meanings, see pentagram (disambiguation). A pentagram, pentacle, pentalpha, or pentangleA pentagram is a five-pointed star drawn with five straight strokes. The word pentagram comes from the Greek word πεντάγραμμον (pentagrammon), a noun form of πεντάγραμμος (pentagrammos) or πεντέγραμμος (pentegrammos), a word meaning roughly "five-lined" or "five lines".
The name indicates that a pentagram is not simply a five-pointed star; the symbol must be composed of five lines. That is, it must include the interior pentagon.
It is also known as a pentacle, pentalpha (as it can be formed by five Α's) or pentangle.
Some sources assert that pentacle derives from the French root pend- to hang (compare pendant) and means some sort of physical object such as an amulet; this explains why some groups use pentacles that do not have pentagrams inscribed upon them, as attested in the Theosophical Society's Encyclopedic Theosophical Glossary[1] But some dictionaries give the etymology as from Italian pentacolo or Medieval Latin pentaculum, ultimately from Greek pente. However, there is Latin usage as early as 1600 showing that a pentacle or pentaculum need not have a five pointed star on it.[2] See also Man, Myth & Magic vol. 77. Richard Cavendish, ed. Purnell for BPC Publishing Ltd., London: 1971. p. 2159.
The pentagram has long been associated with the planet Venus and the worship of the goddess Venus, or her equivalent. It is most likely to have originated from the observations of prehistoric astronomers. When viewed from Earth, successive inferior conjunctions of Venus plot a nearly perfect pentagram shape around the Sun every eight years.
Some writers refer to the pentagram as the endless knot and sometimes as the seal of Solomon (although that is more commonly depicted as a six-pointed star).
Pentagrams were used symbolically in ancient Greece and Babylonia. The Pentagram has magical associations, and many people who practice pagan faiths wear them. Christians once commonly used the pentagram to represent the five wounds of Jesus, but its more modern associations are with Neopagans and Satanists.
To read more....
Personally I've no idea why you think this shouldn't be in the game, perhaps its your own interpretation of a 5 pointed star, rather than the symbol itself. ---- Runner BH Lead |

There are crosses in-game. Those should be removed too.
No, wait. The cross, as a symbol, predates christianity. Us christians don't actually own the cross. Same goes for the neo-pagans, satanists and wiccans and their cute little pentagram.
The pentagram is, in my mind, more connected to, say, the (heh) Illuminati, the Freemasons, as well as just plain old MATH.
There is nothing inherently anti-christian, anti-religious, or plain old satanic about the pentagram. The reason it got tacked onto satanism is probably because idiots trying to summon "demons" used multigrams, not just pentagrams. They tried to twist the geometry to "bring forth Lord Satan". There's also less savoury conspiracy theories that anyone who has read Da Vinci Code will be familiar with, but GOD HELP YOU if you took anything in that book seriously.

Actually, satanist use of the pentagram features the star turned upside-down.
Pentagrams are featured in several religions as well as Maroco's national flag.
As for religious symbols, I find that it's OK in my books as long as it is not a) a mayor symbol of a mayor religion or b) a symbol strongly representative of a group that would violate the name policy.
In other words, the Amarrian ankh symbolism (ankhs are ancient egyptian, pharaoic, of origin) is completely OK, while a swastika would not be OK (****** really ruined a perfectly good symbol, didn't he?).

Edited by: Righteous Fury on 29/01/2006 16:05:59 Ok then, please remove the six or seven different types of crosses (obvious christian overtones), the various skulls (can't be worshipping the dead now), and also any of the bird/horse/lion related logos as well, because we can't have any other god(s) than the big imaginary man in the sky. Oh, lets remove circles too, because we don't want any of those crazy circle-worshipers gaining a foothold in eve to preach their MIND NUMBING EVIL DIRECTIVES.
Just, no. If you're offended, don't look at it. Stop being a crybaby because you think a collection of pixels arrayed in a various shape is omgEVIL. Also, if someone decides to be a neopagan/wiccan, thats their choice and its not against the law or in any other way prohibited. Stop being an intolerant idiot.

A pentagram is only a symbol of "evil" in its upside down form. While wicca may be a religion, most wicca practitioners are not interested in black magic, and don't use the reversed pentagram.
In its upright position, the pentagram is a symbol for good things, among those protection against bad stuff, and about as far from a satanist symbol as you can get.

The pentagram has NOTHING to do with satanism, its the wiccan symbol for protection AGAINST evil, its just that hollywood has transformed it into something. Go read a book or something. -------------------------------------------------

Yeah, thats annoying. We use it in ShorinjiKempo (japanese martial art), to symbolise the unity of opposites.
The dancers who train in the same hall still think we are pretty wierd rei'ing to this swastika though.

Right then. I demand the immediate removal of the "waning moon" corp logo, as it can be combined with the star to create the crescent of Islam. The crosses are right out, as I hear some two thousand years ago a nice fellow got nailed to one - definitely not politically correct. As indicated above, the star should also be removed, as it combines the hippy trendiness of Wicca and the evil of Satanism into a deadly one-two-punch of religious offensiveness.
After this PC crusade is complete, and the only corp logos remaining are a "thumbs up" sign and an adorable yellow baby chick, we will never again have to risk being offended by those insidious religious icons infiltrating every corner of Eve. Won't somebody please think of the children!
