I've been practicing using my probes to find stuff lately and I started before RMR was put in place. Before RMR, I could find lots of things and hardly ever failed using the 3 au ones.
Now after RMR, I can't find squat. After several tries on several days, I've come to the conclusion that probes may be bugged . Anyone else having problems? Your friendly neighbourhood miner.

yeah the scan probes need to be A long way away from each other to get above 1au range

It's how they should work as documented. Putting them next to each other doesn't work for triangulating anymore. It's enough even if you do couple micro-warps (<1AU naturally) and drop them into some form.. And voila.
It's not a bug, it's a feature.

The problem with that being, of course, that you cannot manually tell your ship you want to jump x distance in the direction you're facing.
You have to warp to something, drop a bm, warp back to it, etc etc etc.
And if that wasn't tedious enough, the analyze times are WAY too long. The only people you can catch with scan probes these days are either asleep or stupid or both.

Certain ships got bonuses for scanning. Use those ships. Try to get to 3AU range instantly too and get them with the first probes.

Again, you're not going to catch experienced pvp players with probes regardless. And I was talking about the scan analyzes WITH the ship bonuses as being too long. I can't imagine how lame it is in a different ship.

stacked probing still works, with the same limitations as pre-RMR afaik. I made a theory about why some of their scans fail sometimes and posted it in a couple of relevant threads in this forum. Try searching it.
The only bonus ships get is the timing for the probing, nothing else.

I havent noticed any difference. However some kind of statement from the Devs regarding Probes, their current functionality, and if/when we are getting an overhaul would be nice. |

Well i have had no trouble finding ships with them and have always found that putting 3 probes near each other has never worked. Also You need to remeber that 3AU probes only scan within a 1.5AU radius.
I find with probes that the whole system is too slow to find anything unless it remains stationary for 5min+. Also alot of people still seem to be using Deepspace safespots on the edges of systems which are very difficult to find but the GM's don't consider it an exploit because its not impossible to find just very difficult.
