We got them in the CE. And thank the gods we did. I am thoroughly convinced that the eyepatch was responsible for the glaring success of last night's roam. "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose."-á --áBienator II |

The eyepatch doesn't symbolize a person's nobility, in fact, it symbolizes the opposite of that. How many peasants and scrubs do you think have one of those patches, because they purchased the collector's edition?
Not a lot of peasants would buy a monocle worth 800m isk, because they'd have to spend 800m isk. The peasant won't be spending ingame currency on Collector's edition items, since he paid for it with real money. I'm sure he'll feel bad selling an item in-game, which was bought using real life currency.
EDIT: You spelled Monocle wrong. A Noble monocle wearer wouldn't be that awful... |

Historically speaking, the majority of pirates were from noble houses, as their former status as naval officers and commanders bespoke. Breaking away, therefrom, does not nullify being highborn. The eyepatch, as used by pirates, was actually not indicative of injuries received, or falling prey to disease, but a tactical decision by a rather forward-thinking pirate captain, who realized that being able to see in the dark was essential to the leaders and members of his boarding parties.
I would argue, good ser, that the pirate eyepatch DOES, indeed, loosely represent a connection to nobility roots, regardless of how far removed the pirate may be from his own upbringing. Pirates could also be argued to have been more noble than noble, as they generally did not use their status to enslave. Crews were treated as equals. Especially as they were more often than not, drawn from junior members of lower noble houses rather than the chattle of peasantry.
Furthermore... IRL, one side of my family is a direct noble line, and only a scant few decades defunct, at that. "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose."-á --áBienator II |

- Date Masamune, one of the more powerful and notable Daimyo from the Feudal Era of Japan (nobility of the highest caliber, in that culture), wore an eyepatch for most of his life. - Yagyu Jubei Mitsuyoshi was a famous samurai (Japan's equivalent to knighthood... also a title of nobility) wore an eyepatch. - Rahmah ibn Jabir al-Jalahimah, a member of a prominent Arab royal family, not only wore an eyepatch, but had forsaken his royal duties, to engage in rather successful piracy. He was described by his Anglo contemporaries as "the most successful and generally tolerated pirate to ever infest any sea". - Ser Adrian Carton de Wiart, a nobleman who was knighted for his actions in the military service of the British Empire, was well-known for his eyepatch.
Is my education showing through, or need I continue? :) "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose."-á --áBienator II |

So, if you own both eyepatch and monocle, does that make you ~super elite~?
I just noticed, Lazor Eyepatch lets you keep your eyebrow, so, +1 to the Patch Club.

I am here to confirm that shades are indeed the most superior eyewear. They were the eyewear of choice for Terrans. They survived the EvE Gate collapse. And here they are...making space people look badass since...forever. Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the comedian is the only thing that makes sense. |

I have this wierd thing where I use expensive appearance items, but don't let anyone see them. I am wearing expensive boots, under the trousers (so they look the same as all the other boots), I am wearing sleave tats on my arms under my jacket. I was thinking of weaing the red star T-shirt, except I can't close the jacket to hide it. If I could have the eyepatch and hide them with glasses I would. You could wear the eyepatch, and turn your character's head so it's not visible. "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose."-á --áBienator II |
