Hello all!
So I'd like to see some sort of method of retrieving implants from podded players. The chance of retrieval would depend greatly upon the relative value of the implant as well as your skill. It would work a lot like mining or salvaging in that you lock on, activate a module, and potentially retrieve the implant. Once s/he's podded, however, you have a short time frame to retrieve it or it'll burn itself out!
So what do you all think? Retrieving an implant in this manner is meant to be more of a reward for successfully popping and then podding a player and isn't intended to be a "sure thing" but would still maintain a high enough chance to be worth the skill time, going through the bother, etc.

I believe that podding players is currently one of the Isk-Sinks that EVE currently has in place as a way of 'regulating' the markets. This would require that implant values from LP stores be increased or decreased based on the value of the average calculated drops being reintroduced to the market. This could also be abused in some fashion by podding your alts with specialized implants that you don't have easy access to or are no longer available to collect for your other character (after it's no longer useful for your main).
Even so, it would give an added incentive for someone to pod you (even in high-sec). This would increase PVP incentive. |

Might as well make it so you can unplug your implants without destroying them, let alone extract them from corpses. If you can't pull out an implant from your head without destroying it, you shouldn't be able to pull one out intact from a frozen corpse in space. |

Implants need to stay expendable, but I would like to see the ability to retrieve broken implant components that would act as a resource for something unique that can only be obtained through used player implants. That would increase the incentive for podding random people in highsec.
I also refuse to endorse any sort of implant scanner to detect which implants a person has plugged in. No. Don't ask. Don't even think about it. Stop thinking about it. You're still thinking about it. No. Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |

Considering CCP is introducing manufacturable implants in Rubicon (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=288232&find=unread) perhaps one could extract/salvage implant parts from a corpse and those could then be used in manufacturing new implants. Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Labs Factory. Hybrid charges, Projectile ammo, Missiles, Drones, Ships, Need'em? We have'em, at affordable prices. Pop in at our Ammo Shop in sunny Alentene. |

These are all really good points!
I definitely agree that implants should remain semi-precious. I really like the components idea too. Maybe you can only carry one extraction crystal per module and it's destroyed upon use? As far as unpluging them, if we visualize this as a realistic scenario, one would much rather destroy an implant than cause severe brain damage and basically pod yourself. That worry is removed, in my mind anyway, when dealing with a meatcicle.
If you've got a head full of implants, maybe you get one scan to extract components/intact imps and that's it. The laser destroys whatever it doesn't extract maybe? |
