Hi all,
I'm on a mission to kill some drones in a deep space location. That is no problem so far. I also have to destroy their habitats. That's also no problem. But there are a lot of other structures, like Storage Facility or a Shipyard. I know I'm not allowed to destroy the "Asteroid Colony", as the mission details make clear. But can I destroy the other structures? Or more important, is it worth it? Is there a chance that they drop something? Or is it a waste of my missiles?

I'm pretty new here, but in my limited experience it was a waste of ammo.

Sometimes you'll want to, like occasionally a cargo rig will drop some supplies or something. Usually though it's only worth it for the big bada boom. :) Drones are great for destroying buildings too, no wasted ammo.
For the best displays of sheer destructive power though, blow up Radio Telescopes (takes FOREVER) or Depleated Station Batteries. Those boom nicely. No loot, but a screenwide white out is worth the ammo alone. :) -- Lil Miner |

Hmm.. well.... we did a complex 2 or 3 days ago (3 noobs ;)), and we decided to blow up a structure.... took us 2.5 hours (!) and about 2500 missiles... I guess I wait with such actions just for fun untill I have some better weapons ;)
Just was curious if there is a way to differ between them, like "Shipyards always drop something" or something like that...
Thanks for the replies though...

Yikes! If you run into a structure that at any level, shield, armor or hull seems to not loose any points regardless of what you pump into it, just move on. It's not really meant to be destroyed.
As far as I've experienced there's no rule for one that'll always drop something. -- Lil Miner |

Well, it became a kind of a running gag and at some point, we HAD to blow it up ;) We even had to go and buy new missiles ;) Was kinda fun one time (and we got some nice screenshots), but I guess we'll never do it again (at least not with our kind of weapons.
I will just send a probe missile to them and see if I can take it down in a decent time...

LOL if you want to do a very loong attack on one structure... Try destroying POS (Player Owned Starbase) control tower. Took about 12 hours with around 15 battleships.... It was long enough to bring it down while the power offline, probably will take a whole day or two if it's online. Wasted lots of ammo indeed... ---------
