If you're hauling 1B+ ISK in an Orca and don't have it tanked to the max, then you'd better have an alt running ahead of you in a shuttle (or better, a corp mate with a web) to check for gank parties waiting at the gates. And pay attention to "ships destroyed in the previous hour / day" stats along your route.
Especially in the common gank locations like Sivala, Perimeter, New Caldari, etc. |

If they can't see what your hauling, they probably won't bother to kill you.
If the GSC is placed directly in the cargo hold - then it can be scanned by players.
If the GSC is inside a courier contract (double-wrapped) - then it cannot be scanned by players (but still scanned by NPC customs officials, just like the corp hangar). Alternately, you can courier contract something (not a container) to your alt, then have your alt courier contract it back to you (which double-wraps) for the actual move.
Depending on the pirate, they may decide that double-wrapped containers are "interesting enough" to gank.

I'd use a covops over a Dram to move stuff, the cloak comes in handy for breaking locks at the gate and both warp equally quickly. Or a blockade runner, which is almost as nimble and also has the Covops cloak for breaking locks and getting away from gankers.
Heck, for flying under the radar, I used to use a salvage cane with an innocent name fitted with a mix of cargo expanders, nanos and a DC2 along with a full set of shield tanking modules (pair of invuln2, lots of T2 LSEs). Nobody really expects a hurricane to be hauling anything as it's mostly used for PvE/PvP. It had 53k EHP and held about 2400 m3, or I could put a pair of 1600mm plates in along with a pair of T2 EANMs and get to 87k EHP w/ 920 m3. |

They would also reward pilots who are at the helm rather then AFK piloting from gate to gate.
Of course, if freighters were given 2 low slots, 2 mid slots and 2 rig slots, then you could fit them with Reinforced Bulkheads and a DC2 - for more tank when actively flying from gate to gate.
