I'm a newb at EVE (been playing for about a month) and decided to join a corp right away so I could get some mentoring from players that have been on longer. Boy was that a mistake!
First I want to say that I love the game.
Now on to the reason why I'm leaving. Our corp leader decides that he wants to make our corp into a PvP corp where we go out and try to bounty hunt. Dumb! dumb! dumb! The leader has been playing for a year so he has a good amount of cash and experience with PvPing but has no idea of what it takes to run a corp. Most people in the corp are newbs so the question stands as to why he is looking to PvP with a whole bunch of newbs? Another problem is that he has this ongoing war with a corp at our base. I don't know how it started but we all ended up losing ships due to it. I really didn't want to start this game with tarnishing my name so that when people see our corp name along with our player name, they would want to shoot at us. A few other members feel the same.
I know this is being soft but I was going to Evemail our opponents and tell them that I'm done with the war personally because I never had a problem with any of them anyway. Chances are our leader started some crap with them long before we joined by looting cans or something. He's known for that.
I want to have long lasting fun on this gamew and plan on playing it for years to come. I want to have fun now and with this war stuff going on, I can't. I head out to do missions and I'm being hunt. It's BS.
So this is why I'm leaving my corp.

Dont let your initial experiance ruin the game for you.
Also, dont think that just cos your noobs you cant learn and participate in PvP
When KIA first formed, the very day we got our first batch of cruisers, we were out looking for fights, no more than 2 months old, and didnt even know what a warp scrambler was. But hell it was fun.

Yep wars are not easy on those not willing/able to put up a good fight. But hey it's easy to move on and do things you enjoy, it's a game so do whatever is fun ^_^. Maybe look for a corp with similar members and goals to you, one that won't wardec and get the new people shot down by ace pilots as soon as they undock would be a good start
Good luck .o/ ___________ ~Fredbob~

You're not the first player to join a corp and not be happy, and you won't be the last!
My first proper corp was specifically setup by two older players in order to take a bunch of new players and making them into a strong PvP force (which he did!). I had never PvP'd before then, but gave it a try and I loved it. As Eddz says, don't think that just because you're new, you can't be a force in a PvP situation.
But on the other hand, I do realise that there are a lot of players that don't want to fight at all and I totally respect that. If you join a corp that you're not happy with, then just leave. I assure you that there are a lot of other corps out there that you'd fit into and I'm sure you would have a lot of fun with. Maybe try the recruitment forum and see if there's anything there that interests you.
Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the replies.
I don't mind the PvP thing. I did make a kill in my Kestral but even still, I just wanted to make money, build skills and by ships to build my fleet.
We're pretty much going to start our new corp asap and do what we want because our leader doesn't think about the corp when he's doing stupid things to get us shot at.

Meh what will u do with isk if you have no skills? Buy yourself a bs and die on lvl4 mission i hope. What your ceo did was smart, and he was trying to entertain you, but if you want to mine/shoot dumb npcs... well you are just another one in 80% eve.

If you think putting your whole team into issues they aren't able to handle due to skills and money, then you are as dumb as he is.
I seriously didn't understand your comment because I personally buy skills to train with the isk I get attain.
Corps need people that know how to run them, no matter what they are into.

I think an empire war is not the best way to make new players learn to pvp. There is alot of things you wanna try when you are new to the game but with an empire war its hard to do those things without getting killed. Corp ops into 0.0 choke points is better imo because then they can recover in empire if they lose.

I'm really idiot if you say so.
Now go mining. Btw, you don't need to pay subscription. You can buy yourself some laser pen (dunno exact word in english), sit in front of the wall with trash bin on your knees and pretend that you are mining :)
TBH, i don't know anything about you or your ceo, maybe you declared war on someone too big for your teeths, but maybe next war will be better. I remember when my corp was war decced by DNA and in the end i still got some mails, though we were hiding quite alot, as they were bigger and better(3mil sp at that time :) ). Now if you need isk for ships and skills, corp should provide it FOR ships you are able to fly. And don't make any illusions about BS, i'd not give you one.

I agree, partially. It really depends who you wardec :). Find some hardcore miners or something for first job and listend to ceos how to fit ships. But in first month there is so much new in eve, so i think not many ppl are really willing to pvp at that 'age', but they regret it later. Anyway, gl with anything you do next.

Don't take what I said personally but what I'm saying is that he's got us into wars out of sheer stupidity. If anyone agrees with him on his actions especially with having a bunch of newbs on his team is not thinking straight.
Am I afraid of war? Hell no! Do I want to be with a team that can do damage? Hell yeah! Do I want to be in a corp where I know most of the players can handle themselves if need be? Yes.
There's really not much to know about the whole thing besides what I posted. Our leader likes to pirate, then gets us all out there to protect him when he's outnumbered. The way most of us sees this is that he asks for it.
And since you brought up the support that the corp should have for its members, this one doesnt have support for us when we need ships. Hell, it was when I proposed that our Sunday mining sessions should be split amoungst everyone that mined that day was when we started to get something from the corp. until then, everything went to the corp. That's BS too.
Oh yeah, I do want to run my NPC missions and mine to make isk and I see no problem with that being new to the game. When time goes on I'll move on to other things.

Being a PvPer improves your reputation it doesnt hurt it.
I guess I'll need to cut my losses.
I'm talking about a bad rep in in general and not in terms of numbers. I can fix the numbers aspect of reputation.

as some others have stated alrdy, dont let this experience ruin ur further eve playing.
many ppl, excluding me tho ;), tried many many careers in eve,
o.o pvp with polotics, pirating missioning, mining producing, or everything together.
u can do everything, and even with 27m skillpoints ud have ppl that are better then u, so new or not to the game, stick to what u do and dont let u get down.
just a hint, players are wanted, so u can choose the corp, not corps u - and specialise in what u wonna do when u know what ;) - Purple Conquered The World, We the Universe.

In general I would say stay off of Eve-O when it comes to corp politics. Save it for your own forums.
99% of the time it's wise to just go quietly from a corp that you aren't compatible with.

Thanks for adding more input to this topic.
Lowa, I've been a part of online forums for a long time. There's smartazzes in every one of them and I know how to deal with them. Sometime people see that your new to their forum, they like to try to punk you. I'm hip to all of that nonsense.
Trust me guys, I wish I could play the game more than I do and I know I'll have to PvP even when I'm not thinking about it. I will and have shot at other players for going into my cans right in front of my eyes (that was fun).
It's not that I don't want to PvP, but just want to get to know the game and earn a lot of isk.

Give it some time, try different things as this game is very diverse, many things to do within it. When your skills and isk go up, you'll probably find you wanna see how well your guns/missiles do vs someone else, then the PVP bug kicks in -
