Generally if they're an MMO reject they won't like the game and will quit \o/

I've actually had 8 or 9 people tell me they quit to go play games like planetside because of the following reasons.
#1 "It's to hard" #2 "It takes to long to get going" #3 "I got killed and lost everything I owned" #4 "To many *******s that get off by ruining the game for me"
Lots more, I forget, I was suprized at how many people have tried eve and didn't like it.

I didn't like it at first, the controls were odd, and the screen made me claustrephobic. But once I tried it again post Exodus I was sold.

How to have fun in other MMORPGs - the simple recipe:
1. Buy a good computer with lots of RAM 2. Minimise/window your OtherMMORPG 3. Run EVE in a larger window/fullscreen 4. Have lots of fun

Eve isn't so unique, after all. Its players get overinflated egos just like all the other mmorpg players do.

I loved it, the learning curve cant be that bad, I found it easy at the age of 12. I've tried a whole bunch of MMO's, I play them for about 5 minutes to see, yep, here's another one...eve 4tw, and leave.

Hmm, actually I think many of the people here are worse, alot worse..at least you can point the finger at the leet kiddies and call them 'kiddies'....what excuse do many of the people here have?
Maybe, as leet kiddies get older they go and play EVE? might explain alot...
The OPs idea is a case in point......

I play WoW because its way ******* less stressful. In WoW my only penalty for dying is to run back to my body (oh noes!) in EVE i have not only a personal relationship to my ships (ferox...how I love thee :P) but the side effects of making bad descions can be catastrophic.
But yea mayb i could be an asshat and spam it everywhere ^_^ The Damsel is no longer in distress. She was rescued enough times that she got the hint and installed better security systems at home. |

Can't be that hard. I'm only on like day 5 and I'm doing ok. to the point I have several ships in different stations. Only lost a ship once.
though i havne't been brave enough to go below a 0.6 system. :)
Only a 14 Day trial, but I'll be getting the full game ASAP.
And I'm comeing from one of the easiest MMO's out there. City Of Hero's.

I didn't find the learning curve that bad really. I enjoyed it from the start
I do think we have a better community here then in most other mmo's because eve really give something special. It's very much a niche game. That makes you either love it, or you don't.

I would like to see an end to the learning skills. I think they are a real pain in the ass to New peeps to this game Give everyone all maxed out skills in learning FTW. IM (not so)HO it would bring peeps on alot faster to a level where they could compete. But hey what do I know? Not much.

In turn justifying the comments made by all those people who think eve players are ****s.
Spamming isnt good for an bussineses reputation, I dont feel its doing the game any good either.

there was only one other game where i saw almost the same degree of freedom (not so much complexity, obove most other mmo's but not eve)and that is why i like thegame so far. i like the posability it presents. Games like this tent to keep supid and imature people away. i wish i had more time to paly so i could experience the real pvp here. The statisfaction in killing other players in other games came only when u knew that what u do actualy mean something and have real afect. In most moo's the afect is so negligeble that some times it feels like u killed another rat, and if you die its like, "yah so what". In away its like gambaling when u risk what u got to get someone ... its the best

Instead of bringing the advanced learning skills in the past, an increase of the learning rate by x percent would have been a better choice. Same effect, except that newbies just wouldn't have to worry about that anymore and could start with fun skills right from the beginning and without having a bad feeling that they loose something. Now we have the situation that newbies are told: 'No new ships and no new guns for you in the beginning, you have to train your learning skills up ! Lvl.4 in adv. learning skills minimum. You can have fun later !' Probably the first negative experience for many new players. Bad psychology. Imho new players shouldn't have to worry about stuff like that from the beginning, but train their frigate skill, industrial skill or whatever they like in the first days, skills that let them use something new or better and gives them a sense of achievement and a positive experience on their first days.
P.S.: To the topic. Imho you just look stupid, if you join a game and just tell everyone that it sux and that another game is better. Noone is interested in that, even not the people who play both games ! If I was a GM and was allowed to, I'd just kick someone like that from the server: 'You don't like our game, well then I do you a favour. Have fun in your beloved other game. Kick !'

It's good to have you with us Eternal Fury
I've played Eve since the first week it came out. Be assured that if you stick with it, and hook up with a good corp, you will have lots of fun.
There are veterans out there (like myself) who would be glad to offer advice and stuff to people such as yourself. Noobs are good for this game. If anything, this is a good time to start the game. Noobs have advanced learning skills that we didn't have for years.
Evemail me, perhaps I can help accelerate your progression a bit and get you into some serious fun really fast :)
