Also, Ive been flying a blasterthron for a long time and never had too much trouble with it, with my fitting i can do great damage and tank reasonably well (enough to kill the enemy anyway) You just need to experiment with different setups
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Dont be so immature, just because you cant get it work doesnt mean others cant
Well lets see. Theres you, who says that you can "do great damage and tank" and fit the blasterthron and pwn things in it, while on the other hand people i respect say you cant.
Hmmm, listen to a random nub or people i respect... tough choice.
Drunk, you have flown both an autopest and blasterthron. I have flown both an autopest and blasterthron.
Heres the realisation I came to. I want back on Stormfront's megathron. and it appears you want back on the Temp.
Its funny, how things change.
In the end, the thing I find more convincing is that all races have ups and downs. The Gallente have 2 BS, one excellent sniper and decent up close (comparable to a Pest) and one that is as versatile if not more than a Tempest (Domi). While the Typhoon is "getting looked at" and for all we know will get an exp missile dmg bonus or missile ROF bonus for half its slots. A Typhoon that I will not fly or train missiles for.
A Tempest setup that works now (after the rmr change).
6 Dual 425 IIs 2 Heavy Nos
100mn MWD II (only works with adv wep upgrades 4) Heavy cap injector x5 web j5 warp disruptor another web or ecm mod. I prefer to fit a Ladar ECCM mod to avoid getting jammed.
2x Large Accoms (can't fit tech IIs even with adv wep upgrades 5) 3x energized adaptive IIs (if you have good compensation skills or active hardners if not) 1x 1600 rolled tungsten.
Does ~415 dps and can keep out of a blasterthrons range... barely. It is a close fight. Very close.
The AB setup as tested doesn't work as well against Blasterthrons. An MWD Blasterthron from 20K will always get within 5-6K of you. Where its DPS is quite a bit higher. With the additional drone dmg from 5 Ogre IIs (a must for every gallente pilot). You will invariably beat a Tempest. Specially one with an AB.
Also with tech II blasters and the right ammo you get better tracking than a dual 425 tempest. Even with a tracking comp on (silly for close range).
That is Hail L on a pest that makes its MWD speed ~760m/s the tracking on the dual 425s lower than electrons on a Mega. And the cap recharge ~900s. And this is with my 2x speed implants and 2x low grade snakes and all but 1 navigation skill maxed out.
While the high dmg on a Mega leaves it faster than a Tempest, tracking better than a dual 425 tempest and doing upwards of 700 dps (with guns only). Thats approx 150-200 more dps than a regular autopest.
I'll add more later. This char has Gallente BS 4 and large hybrid 3. And if I wasn't leaving the game shortly... I would be training those to spec.

Edited by: Farjung on 04/02/2006 21:06:36 Just embrace the fact that you need to spend 6-7 times what your opponent does on your blasterthron to get a suitably competitive setup and all your troubles melt away (or are replaced by the anaesthetic effect of a gaping hole in your wallet).

yes it may win. is it a good setup: definitly no
what if u are not targeted and shot at during the whole fight which is more then possible since everyone concentrates fire. assume they pick u last and its 5 BS vs 5 BS
the fact that u have no dmg mods at all to speak of means that u are gimping your whole group. you could easilly add anotehr 150DPS to that which in a 1vs1 case may not be a big deal and ur setup may be the way to go
but in a small group vs small group its gona suck. u need dmg mods on any ship which u intend to do dmg with.

AC tempest can fit 6x t2 dual 650s. 2x heavy nos mwd. med cap injecter. webber. 20km. ECM 2x large tech ******* 2 reps. 2x energized adaptive nano t2. 2x dmg mod.

no my setup had 2 dmg mods in lows.
his one has 1 extra energized adaptive [+10% to resistance] and a plate.
my one does 30% more damage and tanks a little less and doesnt have such a buffer.
imo my one > his one

and its a great setup. apoc or gedden has no chance. torp raven doesnt do full dmg and it should be able to tank it long enough to kill the raven will beat a blasterthron. nos it and tank it long enough to kill it.
its 2 heavy nos will **** over all hacs
its tank will run for a very long time
good dmg output

Fight me 1v1 solo.
and which setup comes out top will be obvious to all.
If you want a close range group setup, than the dual 650 armor tank setup is a terrible idea.
For small group fights you want a mix of as much dmg and hp you can get.
Mix of 800 IIs, heavy nos
mids with mwd, and tackling/ew stuff only. NO CAP INJECTOR.
3x plates 3 x dmg mods or 2x dmg mods and 1 rep.

Its a test of your setup vs mine. Your dual 650s vs my dual 425 setup.
Nothing changes. 'Cept for the last mid slot where NO EW is allowed. that includes tracking disruptors. No tech II ammo (not like its of much use anyway on an autopest). No EW drones that means nos/jam/web/whatever
You can switch out to active hardners if your skills/cpu permit (as pointed out in my setup post)
We can test this sometime Tuesday Evening or Wednesday. After 2200 Eve time.

Oh my , I missed this :\ Drunk you make me cry
Talk to me on msn about it.. There's not much you can do with a bthron, don't expect it to rival your tempest 'easy' fitting factor without some isk put in for cpu problems..
I love it, it's not because the tempest can do it better. It won't give you more flexibility till you use t2 guns and t2 ammo (null is great with t2 blasters if you can GET to fit them).
This is the perfect topic for another Gronsak whining party of Gallente vs Minmatar.. But wait, He doesn't have now since he now owns a Caldari *****, a Gallente ***** and i think he got himself a new minmatar ***** too

yep doesnt matter which race is over powered.
got a galante alt with t2 hybrids/t2 drones/ lvl 5 bs got a amar alt with t2 lasers/t2 drones/ lvl 5 bs got a caldari alt with t2 torps and just doing bs 5 now got a mini alt which needs some skilling. bs 4 and needs spec skills up but all the rest of gunnry on 5
so im as nerf/boost proof as it gets atm.
and Bthrons are ****e atm, needs a cpu lowered as the guy who started this thred pointed out its impossible to fit
and it just ****es me off that mini can fit 6x t2 med guns. 2 large nos. 2 large t2 reps. and all those other bonouses and yet they still whine for a boost.

The blasterthron needs a grid nerf, a cpu buff and the fittings on tech II blasters need to be looked into.
The Minmatar need 800 autocannons to be buffed and something about 1400s fixed.

The most important part to be noted here ASIDE from the adjustment to cpu issues on a Mega is that just because Gronsak whines 24/7 about something doesnt mean he knows much about it.
His Tempest setups are terrible to say the least. The med cap injector setup on a Tempest where he goes on someone elses word lasts for 500 seconds. ROFL what a load of bullcrap. 2 energized adaptives and 2 large reps. Another absolute waste of fitting.
The Autopest is better of tanking and putting out a constant if lower dps rather than going for pure dps.
Ryan Routines autopest setup before the RMR changes was awesome with 800s and 6 gyros. It was actually a good ship. Doesn't work anymore. I think even he uses dual 425s with a tank now.
In the end, just because someones whine happens to be similar to yours doesnt mean you have to accept everything they say as truth. Gronsak's Tempest advise is bad. DO NOT TAKE IT.
On the other hand, the Megathron needs changes. It is a VERY hard ship to fit as far as blasters go and a VERY easy ship to fit as far as rails go.
The reasons being high grid low cpu. With 7 Electrons IIs, 1 HEavy Nos, 2 large rep IIs and mwd/cap injector. The Megathron still has lots of grid to spare, while it has already run out of CPU. Lower Megathrons Grid by 1000 and up its cpu by 30 or so. Also lower fitting reqs (CPU wise) on Blasters.

ahh yes. lets turn this thred into a proj thred. start your own thred dam it ARGGGGGGG
nerf the megas grid? erm thats a new one. what about its grid makes it overpowered? increase its cpu. not needed imo. just a blaster cpu decrease and maybe slightly blaster pg decrease.
oh and the eternal 1400mm fix. wait what was wrong with those again? do they do too much burst damage? do they have the best sniper ammo? is its 5 mid slots too little for your sniping needs?
yes some ****s gona post some stupid dps graph taking into account 1400 t2 vs 425s t2 and tach t2 and not even consider tracking, burst damage, damage type and best of all they are gona make it a infinitly long fight to further swing the argument to their favour well i put a hax on ya, open a new thred if u want to do that
800mm AC need a fix? ohhhh u dont like that you can actually fit a full rack + shield tank easilly with neuts in high. bummer. you dont like that it can choose its damage type. DOH. and that its got a decent range. arggg. oh but yes please again show me a infinitly long fight DPS graph to warrent a boost. [taking ******* relaod time into consideration you have the same prob with neutrons over ions ect]
the tempest is fine. before it was nicely overpowered with 6x 800mm 2 neut and 5 jammers in mids. those where the days im sure u miss them just like i miss my 7 dmg mod sniperthron.
and dont whine about not being able to fit 6x 1400 t2 without a grid mod cos infact u can, u just need advanced weapon up 5. and u need some sort of disadvantage with such a high burst damage. and then u got 5 low slots. 3 dmg mods. 1 tracking enhancer. u got one totally free to use what ever. and u can fit a grid mod there. and dont whine there isnt much else u can fit there if 1400pg was lowered.

Originally by: KilROCK EVEN with all the problems i get with fitting on a megathron. It has grown on me, I wouldn't fly a AC tempest over my current Bthron fitting.
when did u start flying blasterthrons?
and yep it does grow on you, cant pull myself away from meh mega even with the ability to use almost any other ship in game

Originally by: Wizie The most important part to be noted here ASIDE from the adjustment to cpu issues on a Mega is that just because Gronsak whines 24/7 about something doesnt mean he knows much about it.
Also lower fitting reqs (CPU wise) on Blasters.
my track record would disagree with you killbord highst score. very low loss.
yeh i donno how to fit a temp . anyways this is turing to personal for my tasts. so im gona leave it here.

Just to throw in what I really think of all this; the bthron is actually good as it is.
It's that 80% of the ships in EVE are overpowered.
It's supposed to be hard to work out a 'perfect' set up. Trying back and forth with different stuff to see what fits is the fun and challenging thing to do. Just as to spend $$$ on 'leet equipment' to bring out the whole potential of the ship.
It's just that it isn't very fun anymore when it's obvious that your opponents don't have to do the same: They can basicly just say "ok, this is what I want in my slots" - and behold, it all fits!
Problem is that it won't go very well with the playerbase to nerf almost all ships :(
Drink up, shoot in. Let the beating begin. Distributor of pain. Your loss becomes my gain...
