I recently got my first player kill (a purely defensive act, I can assure you... ) and received a kill mail regarding the action. I see lots of posts from experienced players talking about so-and-so's kill mails, etc. Is there a place where these are recorded for others to see? Do I have to do anything in particular to see my own?
Hmmm... maybe, on review, I shouldn't see my own... not pretty at the moment...

Public killboards suck, and if you regularily post your killmails on them you, by definition, also suck. Sorry, but that's the rules. ___

The good thing about public ones is you can have a look at other peoples stats and laugh at their inadequacy

Corp killboard are nice because you can see how much the corp is accomplishing, and losing. Also, in some cases, with a search function it can be strategic.
Its nice to be able to see just how many people you've killed, what kind, etc. While killboards shouldn't be the reasion you pvp, it can be an interesting addition.

I also save them to see what setups people use sometimes. This can be good intel when prepping for a corp war or something.
And to rub a bit of peen.

I also find they are a great motivator for friendly competition within a corp.
Racing to get kill mails keeps people interested and out fighting. Occassus Republica, NBSI |

It helps reminding you that you're actually quite a killer, Eve is not so slow as you tend to say sometimes ("yawn, I never find any kills... but hmm, it seems I've killed 20 people this month... oh well..."). Kill mails is just like all other history. Removing them is sort of like removing WWII from the history books.

Fighting someone with a public killboard is excellent.
Also, trophies are nice.

We use alliance killboard, pretty nice. You can see whats going on.
I like personal killboards, I dont like public ones. Those are pathetic.

Public killboards provide a much more accurate record of combat performance. Alliance and corp killboards can be taken with a good pinch of salt as losses are never posted. Those who are too afraid to post on public killboards suck bigtime. And that goes for 80% of the pvpers in EVE I'm sorry to say.

Personal killboards are stupid, yours for example is missing ALOT of losses.
You just paint a fake picture of your supremacy wich is non-existant.

Utter bull**** coming from you as usual. Public killboards can not and never will be controlled. This makes them, mildly put, unreliable.

Wrong.
Public killboards are never accurate.
I can only speak for the Ushra'Khan alliance, but our killboard looks fairly accurate even at our losses. There is no shame in losing a ship in combat.

Posting a km once is more than enough, whats the point of posting it on a public board?
And your titan loss is very accurate

Saving all of your killmails somewhere isn't a bad idea. Killboards work, but sometimes extracting the data can be difficult (if you join a different corp/alliance).
That being said, I gave up a long time ago and just started deleting them. I post them on our corp killboard and hope that Rasta never disappears on me...
An accurate public killboard would be nice, but I don't think its possible unless CCP steps in, which they don't seem willing to do.
Reviewing your kills and losses in a killboard format also helps you assess your own strengths and weaknesses. Set a target kill/death ratio for yourself and try to hit it. Just makesure you use points and not ships so you don't give yourself a false sense of uberness by blowing up shuttles all day.

I save all my killmails, though its getting a bit many to have in my ingame folder so im gonna put them all in a folder on my server instead, but its nice to look back on them every now and then and see some nice ones that'll bring back some fun memories
as for killboards accuracy, it doesnt really matter tbh, if someone wants to look uber by skipping out his losses its not like it changes anything.. It all comes down to the point where you actually fight in the end anyway.
As people already pointed out I also think alliance/corp killboards are nice, it gives you a chance to see whats going on and see what people are doing, and also allows you to review setups and perhaps laugh at the enemy
In the end, saving the killmails is just a personal preferrence, if you dont find any personal enjoyment or profit in having them, then dont save them (deleting them makes your game more lagfree too!)
