After getting to see it for the first time I was left underwhelmed specially since there are so many cool animations that could be done to/with that ship.
I get the feeling it was a rush job by CCP just to get it rolled out. Specially because it was not "ready" when CCP rolled out the rest of the bastion animations. If you recall they were all on the test server a while before the the one for the Paladin.

Personally I would have liked to see something done with the first piece that "hangs" below the ships hull would be cool to have it fold ninety degrees and "merge" with the rest of the hull to fill in that first "gap" specially because there is almost the exact amount of space there for it to do just that. |

"The useless Bastion concept is awesome, I love it. A Seige mode Battleship with no valuable damage increase is the best concept ever introduced into EVE Online. What I don't like, is that it has a crappy paint job."

But it gets an enormous tank increase and application increase. You dont need to fit/activate bastion though if you dont like it. |

Still the animations are way better and sophisticated than for example triage or Siege modes, I don't get why people are whining. |

That's my problem with most of the bastions. They reveal something, not protect it.
Sure, shield sorta count, but armour tanks don't make much sense like that. |

The paladins bastion mode made me squirt out a genuine LOL after seeing the amazing batmobile style Vargur armoed sails :)
Paladin basicly, turns 60 when you push the button, the balls suddenly drop to below its knees trolololol

And that is what most will do, once they realize how awful it is, and such a waste. And what is left is a nerfed ship compared to the current TQ version, especially in the case of the armour Marauders. Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

I've been underwhelmed with all the animations for the marauders, they were meant to be amazing(coming from CCP) but they are just a little weak, nothing to brag about going into 2014 let's be honest. I disagree |

I agree, but not only with the paladin, but all of them, these animations seems done too hastily, they make absolutely no sense on what the bastion mode achieves, as someone said before, pulling back in the engines would make sense, and protect the ship also, but these animations reveal more deep machine, it just does the opposite than it should.
I havent seen the vargur one, but the golem, it just opens 4 flaps... what are they supposed to do? i was so disappointed when i saw that... The kronos its cool, but still you dont get the purpose of the transformation on what the bonus do, and the same with the paladin, with the add that its not big enough.
Basically these animations seem done at the last moment without giving it a single though. |

Marauder animations are kind of funny... one can almost figure the Captains...
Vargur animation: "Closing the blinds, aye, Sir!" Kronos animation: "First mate, aren't those armor plates a tad loose?" Golem animation: "All hands, grab a hold! Deploy airbrakes!" Paladin animation: "One more joke about body orifices and you're all fired!" The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

I too am excited about trading playability for more lag and shiny pictures.....:( Petition for a Minimum bounty of 10 mil. Prevent useless bounties!

Actually given what the bastion does in my opinion the Vargur is the only one that makes sense. Put up some armour plates to protect the "wingy bits" |

Bastion allows you to roll with a 2 slot tank letting you fit more damage and projection mods. You can fit 4 damage mods, a TE and a tank on a Kronos/paladin. You also certainly don't need your rigs for tanking either so you can fit a burst aerator on there for 5 damage mods. The freed up tank gave it more damage and more projection. You can omni tank against explosive with a kronos/paladin with a 2 slot tank. It's strong as hell. Plus it gives a nice projection boost, tachs and pulses with scorch are ridiculous. |
