I'm running 64-bit Windows on an AMD 64-bit 4000+ CPU with 2GB 400 RAM and a dual 6600GT. Brand new install, graphics lovely, no lag. I play at 1280x960 windowed with all effects on and textures on max.
And yet after a couple of hours of play, the game freezes, and takes the system with it. I am literally forced to press the Reboot button on my tower, because the system is dead. Just a still image of my ship in warp.
Yeah, I'm sure my system has something to do with it. And yet no other program I run, suffers from this problem. It is just EVE. Was I wrong to import my Settings folder from the old system? Is it a lack of support for 64-bit OS, or what?

It's just BS, thousands of people are probably having this problem and I haven't seen a single post from CCP giving a care. They obviously fuxored something between colr war and RMR.. so um fix it plz k thnx we pay you for this.

64bit XP is not officially supported by eve... It could be any number of issues, including the horrible drivers out there for XP64.

How about you post some relevant info about your PC, OS, and settings rather than just *****ing about your issue and telling no one exactly what it is.

I get frequent CDT and freezes and while annoying is not totally disruptive to gameplay. I have an AMD 1700+, Vid card is a Radeon 9550, soundcard is intergrated on mainboard and is Avance AC97, I have 512MB memory and Im running Win98SE. The most frequent freezes occur just as the ship is dropping out of warp. I admit that my system is way outdated and underpowered but I offer this information not in a plea to have the issue fixed but to help give the issue some statistics for people to work with.

Alot of people are complaining about crashes and demanding that CCP fix them, which is understandable (to a point). But you should take a moment to actually USE the forums and see if your problem has already been answered.
Eve-Search allows you to search these forums for potential answers to your issues. Yes you pay for the game, but CCP shouldn't have to waste time answering the same questions over and over and over because people are too lazy to look for them on their own.
You should also take a moment and think about the complexity of the game and the sheer amount of processing power required to breathe life into this universe. Then imagine what it takes just to keep that universe online. CCP, from what I gather, is a relatively small company. It's not Blizzard or SoE.

Been searching no joy.
My rig is a pentium dual core 3.2, with a Geforce 7800 gtx. Soundblaster fatality card. Clean installation of windows XP with all the updates, clean installation of Eve from the downloaded latest build, clean cache etc etc.
I noticed this pseudo random crashing beginning with the last mini patch after RMR and had never suffered from it before.
The symtoms are: Eve ctd's with varying frequency when my ship jumps through gates or docks and undocks from stations. There is no error message and its a clean ctd and I can immediately reload the game and continue. The frequency of this crash is much worse in high traffic systems like central empire and much rarer in deep 0.0. But I still have the occassional crash in 0.0 nonetheless (though nothing to the 7-8 i routinely get travelling 20 jumps through empire).
I've tried playing with no sound. (no difference) I've tried playing with minimal graphics settings, with windowed mode, with full screen. (no difference)
I've tried rolling back the Geforce drivers to an earlier build = no difference. I've tried the unofficial fix suggested in the top sticky of this forum = no difference. I've tried setting eve to use only one channel of the dual core = no difference. I've tried using windows 95 compatibility mode = no difference.
And yes, I've tried using an old computer on the same network (standard pentium and ati card) using the same internet connection and that works fine.
So I've got to conclude that the last mini Patch broke something in the game to make these constant ctd's happen for people with high spec computers and nice graphics cards maybe.
Any which way it'd be nice to hear from CCP that they know about this problem and will be doing something to fix it in the next patch to the game.
Regards.

Oh and yes, I've submitted a formal bug report with the Log server files, crash dmp file, dxdiag and a full description of the issue to the CCP BH team via the Bug reporting tab in the eve insider column according to the advice and proceedures listed here
I'd encourage everyone suffering from this CTD problem to do the same.

You know, i'd happily get a logfile. Too bad you have to manually save it which you can' tdo if you get a hardlock.

Don't be so silly. You seem to be expecting miracles from the support staff. It's obvious from the lack of reports of CTDs that this problem is affecting very few people. The servers nearly always have at least ten thousand people on them all the time. We see very few posts about CTDs anywhere.
Whatever the problem is it's specific to a handful of machines. That means:
a)The support staff are stuck. They can't fix what they can't replicate or don't have experience of. You at least have physical contact with your computer which means you are in a better position than they are. b)Further to (a) it is most likely a problem with your machine. And yes, I know, I know, you won't like being told that your 'baby' is sick but given the low number of complaints it is far more likely than a problem with Eve.
If the Eve client had a CTD causing problem it would hit huge numbers of people and these forums would be awash with complaints from tens of thousands of people. It isn't. Either cut the support guys some slack or better yet get your machine checked out by a professional. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the number of people playing EVE is miniscule compared to the other games. Fewer people means fewer occurences. However, one would think the development staff at least would be similar size to the games with more subscribers. It's pretty disappointing that staff members don't post to anything here. Why is this forum even up? We can post specs all day long but what's the point if no one ever comes here to read them?
