They're kept back until you show up? ^^
that would only work if the enemy fleet had some small ships, but they would probably die to snipers too. meaning that the carrier got only battleship pilots to assign their fighters to, and since the battle is going on in 80-100km sissy range i am able to snipe those fighters with ease.

You can only use those modules on capital ships anyway.

Keep thinking that; but in meantime ask yourself if that's the case, how on earth does anyone manage to drop their tacklers on top of the enemy sniping fleet, in order to actually secure some kills... as opposed to keeping these frigates at 100 km distance for no good reason, just so they can be sniped.

Not to mention that if you are in a 50v50 battle and both sides have drones deployed its going to be pretty hard to find the fighters to shoot (although I am honestly uncertain whether they have a special overview designation).
