You'd need all four compensation skills at level 4 or 5 and using T2 adaptive nanos to make it worth about the same as active hardeners. And even then you'd need to be using three or less. The fourth wouldn't be worth it. It's handy if you don't want to use cap on the hardeners, like in pvp with a gang where your hardeners will turn off if you get nossed too much and you just need to survive a bit longer for gangmates to take out the nossing ships. Or on smaller ships where the cap usage from hardeners makes a difference.
But that's a lot of skill training for no increase in resists. I use T2 active hardeners on my HAC.

Like he said, passive hardeners are fantastic if you have the new compensation skills. If you plan on flying Amarr for a long time, these skills are well worth your time imo. The nice thing about passives is just that, as passive, they are always giving you those nice resists.

On my geddon depending on the situation I use T2 spcific or adaptive nano's and a Damage Control mod.. With 3 sinks 3 T2 adaptive 1 SBA Damage control and a T2 large repper my lowest resist is 67% or so(at work so cant check but thats realy close) and em is around 90%. The damage control mod is icing on the cake it adds another 12% to all resists that dosnt get a stack penalty and realy does make quite a differance.

With Armour compensation skills at level 4 i find that I get the same resist increase using 3 energized adaptive nano IIs as I do using an active hardener. Thus for pvp I get the same resists as fitting 3 active hardeners without the cap drain :), plus with the fourth skill for EM trained as well it's one in the eye for those using EM damage!
