You think all those guys logged off and got rdy to log back in to get ONE maller?
I'd say they were in the next system and came to pwn you quickly. --------------------------------------

Ok I've been in an alliance that have had 8 weeks of solid war with TSDS and I can tell you they never would do such a thing. I mean we've even had half of each others fleets drop due to a node crash and agreed to withdraw rather than use covert ops to get cheap ganks on ships stuck in space whilst their pilot was trying to log back in the game. Now with that behavior from TSBS do you think they would log in trap someone?
Another point for your consideration is that a login trap is exactly what is says it is a trap, you logoff where you want an enemy to be, so in a .3 with many belts there is simply no way someone will setup a trap for some cruiser kills in one particular belt.
When you are fighting you'll be focusing on your enemy, I am sure there was 10 seconds between you noticing local beeng fuller than before but I would suggest that it might have not been the elapsed time they were in system.
As for different ranges lots of people emply warp to optimal and a few seconds is all that is needed to jump and align.

Lets for the sake of the argument assume that these 7 "magical" TSBS members were in the next system, in a gang.
You warp in on their friends. The "magical" gang, instas to the gate to the system you are in. They arrive the other side, varying distances from the gate, some 15km one side, some 15 km the other. (start 10 sec countdown here) The all align for warp, and hit max speed before each individually warps in (albiet hitting the Warp button at the same time due to communication through TS) and warps in to a different distance (some 15km, some 30km, maybe a few 100km's) from the belt. Because they all co-ordinated through TS and aligned prior to warping, they all warp at the same time. They arrive "all over" the asteriod belt you were in. You die.
I know in my corp we can all align and insta jump in under 10 seconds, even with BS's (if the point to align to is somewhere more or less in front of the ships). I fail to see the problem.
Also....if you were engaged in a fight I highly doubt that in under 10 seconds you could, target your enemy, open fire, check some guys profile in Local (given that lag would probably have prevented you from actually reading his profile for at least 2 seconds), AND begin to turn to warp out.
So: (a) Its possible (b) It was probably longer than 10 seconds.

Maybe each of them just warped in closest to their optimal.
I'm just taking a blind stab with Occam's razor here.

It's pretty common for a squad to wait on a jump gate (or jump gates) while 1-3 members jump into a system and bait a smaller hostile force (Or a larger hostile force). Once someone screams "aggro" all hell breaks loose as your buddies jump in then warp to xx at optimal.
This is why you 1) always have scouts out. 2) watch for spikes in local (it spikes you bail) 3) once engaged align to a warp target
With recent posts being made again about login traps I'm putting more creedence to this happening and someone calling it a login trap.

First of all it was 2 mallers and a blackbird, secondly, 1 maller and a blackbird took out TSBS's T1 and T2 frig fleet, yes they died but they killed every T2 ship there before going down. TSBS doesnt like my corp and yes they would. As for Lifewire, you are absolutely right, I know for certain that this was a login trap and I have my proof and I know how the game mechanics work. The rest of you don't know squat since you werent there and thus your opinions are null and void. Lifewire is the most correct person in this post and im taking his advice. I'd rather not attempt to argue with all of you since it would be pretty pointless so I'll just ask a mod to lock this before more trollers come.

Also I would like to add that my opinions are my own, not that of my corporation, and that I do indeed believe that a login trap occured and this is a matter that will be taken care of ingame. Those of you who are accusing me of whining, grapsing for straws and all negative things please do something else with your time because im done here.

Edited by: TheKiller8 on 08/02/2006 00:43:18 I doubt a large dedicated PvP entity like TSBS has to resort to these tactics to get kills. Not only does it damage their reputation and their general image, I doubt it'll get them any more kills than they can get just roaming and ganking. I mean christ.. a 10 men log on trap in a belt in some low sec system.. that's something you might expect from a 5 men corporation who just entered the pvp/pirate scene, not TSBS.
EDIT: Btw if you really want to see if these guys use log on traps. Add all the people on that killmail (and any other TSBS member you might find) to your adressbook. Then just go about playing Eve.. if you suddenly see a bunch of portraits flash in the rightbottom corner and your addressbook lights up like a christmas tree.. you know what they're up to.

This(Eve)isn't America, this isn't a court of law. Bill of Rights has no bearing here.
OP, file a petition if you think it's a log on trap.
I have a feeling Short Bus would have kicked you're balls anyway, log on trap or not.

i hesitate to add my noob, non-pvp experiences, but from my minimal (possibly flawed) experience i have found that:
a) the player list in local isn't very accurate. I've seen other players fly right past me without them showing up on local
b) gang warps don't always warp everyone in next to each other. I've had a couple of occasions where I've ended up over 50km away from my gangmate (usually straight into enemy fire and out of my friends range). I'm not sure if this is because the end position is related to the start position (i wasn't paying much attention when warp initiated)
c) if they warped to the asteroid belt from a jumpgate, then wouldn't they have all been aligned in the same direction from jumping in? I'm not sure about this, as i've never paid much attention to alignment upon entering a system, but if the belt was flukily in the same direction as they were aligned then it might explain their instant appearance?

Hello,
As I am sure that the whole eve world has read this. As I am sure you have read. That poeple whom we have been a war with, and just random kills. Are telling you that this is not the way we fight. We take are time in the way we fight. Ask CVA, Hussah, PIE, Fix are fleets are all based on timing. This isnt the frist gank we have ever gotten. We do know what we are doing. As you know. I undocked from the station (-5.6 sec rating) and you fired on me. I docked, undocked my alt "Sentry Skills" and waited for you to dock. I undocked and flew to a belt. Along with my alt. Coming arcoss a Dark Blood spawn. I wanted my can. Seeing you jump into belt and me bing in a Nemesis I cloaked. As you settled for my alt in a "wolf" you tried me. Know me leting my corp know that I am being hunted. The fact that you had me out numbered I called for help. Since, we were getting ready to take "another" gank fleet in to Fix space. they were already on the way. Now have coms "Ventrilo" allows us to talk to each other in real time. enabling us to have timing down to a "T". You are now trying to kill my alt "wolf" with 2x Mallers and !x Blackbrid. I then warped out allowing I member to jump in to the system enabling him to lock you down and tank you. You came in to the belt and the gave the word. They jumped, warp to me "Nemesis" cloaked next to you. Witch landed them on you. BTW, We were also in the closes belt to that gate so, The time from the gate to the belt was almost less than nothing. Put you screwed in the fact of getting out in time. Also knowing you, you didnt have you local open. you had to type to your firends to let them know we are their. So, your local was out of view. With you somewhat new to PVP you were in the "rush" of a fight. By that time we had are fleet all over you and your firends.
That is what you call a gank. BTW, after killing you with the same Fleet we also took down 4 BS, 4 Cruisers, 1 Bomber, 2 Assult Frigs, 1 Ceptor. all at the same time, they had some "Fix"ing up to do after that.
Your welcome for your one way ticket on the Short Bus.

See? This is what I asked for, an explanation, when I asked you guys in local you claimed it was a "trick" so when such a precision jump is made one is led to believe its a login trap, had I known a covert ops ship was involved I would've known differently. I do apologize for the misunderstanding and look forward to seeing you on the battlefield, its there you will learn that im far from new to PvP.
