Recently i've had the idea about the possibility to run EVE on a tablet, that has Windows 8 OS installed. However, purchasing one just for the sake of experimenting isn't something i can afford. The technical specifications on some of those machines go way above the minimal system requirements. Then, Windows 7 should be able to support the required drivers/environment.
So, has anyone tried to install EVE on one of the newer tablets? Do you have one of those and would you try that experiment? |

How does one work drones without a right click? "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If you fantasize about being immoral it means you enjoy being immoral deep down. |

Maybe get a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro w/ a bluetooth mouse if needed. |

Agreed. Tablets are running full OS versions these days, and there is no reason why it would not work. Get a trackpad or a mouse of some kind and you are golden. Though i believe that right click might be available as well. It would probably be clunky as crap, but I see no reason why it would not work. |

well, I can handle clunky if I'm only sitting in a station managing pi/market orders/industry/skill queue. I'd die for eve on my phone though |

I tried it on my Win8 tablet, didn't work very well, the gfx was messed up - https://twitter.com/Chribba/status/345609724911300608/photo/1
Right-click is just holding down a second or two at the same spot.

Others have used remote desktop viewers to run EVE on tablets / phones. |

Dear CCP,
Please do not make a least-common-denominator UI in order to cater to fondle slabs.
PC, mouse, and keyboard FTW!

There are dozens of free desktop streaming options for tablets. Run that, run EVE, play EVE. We're winning the war if it says so on CAOD! -á

My idea was to be lazy in another form - i just find my laptop to be too clunky to "deploy" and i want to be able to check basic stuff like PI, market, haul stuff.
However, the graphic glitches Chribba showed from his tablet would make adjusting market prices rather... challenging, as text is not displayed at all. I wonder if its because of hardware or driver related.

Yes spending the same amount of money on a tablet when you could actually get something practical like a laptop that will probably run it 10x better.. Smh.. I love technology but lets not be stupid with it.. |

Sizes of buttons, input fields, etc would be too small to be usable on a touchscreen. It would require specialized UI changes. Touchscreen UI is just too limited with it's input. For simple operations (market, etc), CCP could make simplified client for mobile devices.
And I really hope they don't decide to modify whole EvE client to work with tablets... that would **** it up. |

Its possible on the windows tablets. But for android and ios you would need to use a pc and remote viewing app on the tablet or smartphone something like Idisplay works. Also you can connect your tablet to a mouse via usb "android" and "ios jailbrake" . Right clicking can also be enabled with apps.
I use this method for running miners while babysitting. Works over local network or 3g to 4g connection and wifi.

CCP have already hinted at a mobile version of the EVE client being in production that will have limited functionality, though as it stands, you can get the full EVE client to work on a Windows 8, android and ipads, it just requires some tweaking with the tablets graphics settings and some emulator mods, usually though they end up slowing the client down in the process so really all they are useful for at that point is too just change skills modify market orders and the like. Oh an they also can have majorly smegged graphics. |

Someone created a thread about it with pictures at some point.
The client worked fine, but apparently it was unplayable because of the the way the UI works. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

What are you talking about? EVE interface is barely (only?) usable even on PC with mouse. For example fleet window has smallish mouse-optimized features (yesterday I've seen new pilot lost battleship in seconds because he missed that ridiculously small "need shield" button and clicked another button instead). |
