hehe anyone rememebr release of EQ and anarchy online? 6months plus and they were barely playable ... UO had massive lag problems for many many months ... EVE is still one of the better releases, but those not familiar with mmorpgs dont' realize how much better it is.
Go with the flow ... things will get better as they gain experience. Also remember, they are human... and while some humans are exceptionally bright, even those people have their issues... same goes for very good game designers and programmers. They can be the best in their field and still make mistakes. It happens ... they're human. If you don't wan tto wait, cancel your accoutn and come back in a few months to check it out ... or ride it out. It will get better.

Not always easily done... especially in that perticular market. Only so many programmers have experience with mmorpgs, and most are still with the companies that they got their experience from. Or you saying they should offer mass amounts of cash they don't have to get someone from sony or origin? As far as Eve programming is concerned, and the mmorpg realm as a whole, its still new.

I look forward to sever problems and crashes.
It's the only time I get the chance to do the washing up.

Quote: Thanks all for replies - we will see if we get any from devs ....I wont be holding my breath!
But one point - please dont bring out the old battered argument about this is a mmorpg and this is what happens.....
Yes normally it is FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS and then things get better rather than worse.
Oh go on then a second point - I remember getting my ass flamegrilled for posting that there were not enough gm's or development staff to keep on top of a product like this 2 weeks after release....
Where are the flamers now?
These problems have nothing to do with your ISP's, hardware, seemingly hourly DOS attacks - it is all CCP or their providers related. How do I know? Well my gf is sat next to me playing swg all night trouble free, i logged onto PS while eve was down-playing with a ping of 80, my 3 mates i called while the server was down were all playing their games onlineno problems smooth as silk.
To sum it up tonights latest excuse - a f**kin power outage.......
BUY A GODAMM UPS FFS!!! That is what we supposedly pay our monthly's for, maintenance of the equipment bandwidth and staff.
STOP CUTTING CORNERS - GET SOME MORE STAFF - UPDATE YOUR DAMN HARDWARE!!!
I have no idea what server you were on playing SWG but it sure wasn't Gorath, couldn't be. DSL 640 up/down, AMD2400+ with 1 Gig Ram, and NVidia TI4400 Video card and was laggy as hell when more then 20 peeps around.
In terms of CCP and the issues with Eve, why they release when they did I doubt we will ever have the full story but it reeks of money and business issues. They took a gamble to release when they did for what ever reason and went for broke hoping for the best. As frustrating as it has gotten at times, thier support at least with me has been pretty good and the game is coming along nicely imho. Hope the future keeps getting brighter.
